*Deans POV*

"No, no, like this" I adjusted Cas's grip on the knife gently by moving his fingers with my hands.

I was standing slightly behind him and noticed how he tensed when I touched his hands.

Did he feel something too? Or was he just nervous about the contact?

"Is this better?" he tried again.

"Perfect"

I still hadn't moved.

I breathed gently onto the back of his neck without making it obvious, to see how he would react.

He didn't.

I moved away, disappointed and began cooking the steaks. Cas finished the salad and the three of us sat down to eat.

"So the monster activity is still almost non existent, do you know anything Cas?" Sam asked.

Cas paused looking thoughtful.

"I think because the angels are looking for me the monsters have gone 'to ground' for a while, waiting for everything to blow over"

"Awesome" I said, my mouth full.

"Yeah" Sam agreed looking impressed, and relived that he finally knew what was going on.

........

A few hours later I was thinking about going to bed when there was a knock on my door.

"Come in" I called as I sat down.

It was Cas. Come on Dean, deep breaths, deep breaths, it's just Cas.

"Hello Dean"

"Hey what's up?" I asked

He closed the door and came to sit next to me.

"I have some questions about humans" He stated looking at me hopefully.

"Well" I said smiling at him "you can ask me anything"

He smiled back. "Thanks Dean"

"So what do you want to know about?"

He paused and looks a little embarrassed "Well, it's about feelings mostly, I have started getting more and more of them, what are they really?"

Okay this was harder than I thought it would be.

"Well feeling are what we feel" I started slowly, wow Dean way to sound smart, I'm sure he's really impressed. "Hey look, sorry I really don't know how the explain feelings, but I suggest you follow them, do things that make you happy, don't do things that don't"

Cas was silent.

"So Cas, what makes you happy?" I asked, curious.

"Well, You do" there was a pause "and Sam, this place, feeling like I belong" he finished hurriedly blushing slightly.

Hmm. Interesting.

"I should let you get to sleep" he said standing up "Thanks for the talk"

I stood too and impulsively wrapped my arms around him "You can talk to me anytime" I whispered to him.

He froze a little at first and then slowly wrapped his arms around me and held me tight.

Normally it would be a quick hug and I would step away, but this hug, I never wanted it to end.

But all good things must come to an end and I pulled away before it got too weird.

This time when Cas looked at me there was a softness in his eyes that wasn't there before.

"Goodnight Dean"

"Night Cas"

And he was gone.

That night I feel asleep with a smile on my face and dreamt of holding Cas.
