As I'm cleaning up and cooking I heard the doorbell ring, but I thought I was just tripping.

They started to ring my doorbell repeatedly. If this was some Jehovah's witnesses. I was about to clown on them for ringing my doorbell like that. I get to the door and It's Milo standing there in some jogging pants and a sweatshirt with some Nike slippers.

"What are you doing here?" I ask, slightly less than interested to see him.

"Damn I can't pop up and see my favorite boy." He smiled.

"No. You been acting out lately, and I don't like that." I say, leaning on the doorframe.

"I'm sorry damn what I gotta do to make it up to you?" He asks, playfully.

"Get in here and help me wash these dishes." I said as more of a demand than a request.

"Okay." He says, smiling.

I'm walking in front of him, and I could feel his eyes staring at me, but I'm not gonna give him the satisfaction. We reach the kitchen, and he immediately gets to working on the dishes while I'm cooking. He starts up a conversation out of the blue.

"So wassup with you and that nigga?" he asks me

"I'm not sure I know what you mean." I say playing dumb, and not looking at him.

"You know exactly what I mean." He stops washing the dishes and turns to me.

"It's nothing we just boys and that's it." I say trying to sound as convincing as I could in the process.

"Yeah yeah but let me find out." He turns back to the dishes.

"Find out what?" I raise my head with a smile on my face.

"That y'all more than that I'll be pissed." He says shooting me a glare.

"Why would you be pissed?" I ask.

Milo and I have had this conversation before. I know he's had a crush on me since we were kids. I see Milo as a brother. Anything more than that would just be a step too far.

"Man be real Maeko. You know wassup. I don't know why you waiting so long to give me the shot I deserve." He informed.

I shake my head as I listen to him. "You really putting me in an awkward position. I told you. I don't view you that way. What else do you want me to say?"

"Have you ever even thought about it?" He asked, placing all the clean dishes into the dishwasher machine.

I bit the corner of my lip as I start to think. "You just have to let the cards fall where they may. I'm not sure what I want at this point Milo."

"You sure about what you want. You're just not sure if you want it with me." He says, and there is silence among us.

My phone started ringing snapping some time of noise into the room. I already knew who it was by the ring tone. I left out of the kitchen to grab my phone off of the sofa. I answered it as I looked at the name.

"Hello"

"Ko. Where are you?" Za'nae says, kinda nervously. I could sense it in her voice something was up.

"At my house talking with Milo. Why something going on?"

"Can you come over my house please. Derrick went crazy again." She says clearly in distress.

"Are you serious. Again?" I repeat.

"Yeah." She sniffledd.

When she said that my heart started beating fast. "That nigga hit you again didn't he?" I ask with my adrenaline pumping and Milo kind of notices the change in my voice.
