She yours?

Ren left the hospital and headed home. He was in desperate need of a shower and something to eat. What he didn't need is to walk in and see his sister sitting on the couch watching t.v. and eating cereal. "Why are you here Bailey?"
" I wanted to wait for you so you can tell me what's going on."
He plopped down beside her and snatched the cereal out of her hands.
"Hey that's mine Ren get your own!"
"Technically it's mine since I paid for it Bailey."
Bailey flopped back an scowled. "Well" she said. "Are you going to tell me what's going on?"
Ren studied his little sister for a moment and decided telling her everything would be for the best. He knew he was going to need her help soon. When he was done he watched a tear roll down her cheek as he issued the command for her to keep silent and told her to befriend the new girl Lana so they could make sure she would keep silent as well. Ren got up and headed upstairs to take a shower and told Bailey to get dressed so he could drop her off at school.
After dropping off his sister Ren headed back to the hospital with a knot still lodged in his stomach. He arrived and headed straight for Dr. Stivers office knowing he would still be there. He knocked and heard the mumbled "it's open" and walked in.
Dr. Stivers looked up at Ren and set down his pen.
"She's yours isn't she?" He knew the answer but he wanted to hear it from Rens mouth.
Ren gave a nod "ya doc she's mine."
"Well shit Ren."
Ren stiffened."Problem with that doc?"
"Ah hell Ren I've known you your whole life. Your a hard man and that girl well she is gonna need a lot of tlc."
Ren just stared at the doctor and waited for him to go on.
"I moved her into a private room and Sarah and Adam will take rotation in nursing since they're yours. She's healing pretty quickly but not as fast as one of you, so give it another 24 before you take her home ok."
"24 is fine keep Sarah and Adam off your schedule for the time being and they can nurse her at mine until she's all healed. Tell your staff she's in witness protection and seal her file. If someone is after her I don't want them finding her."
Ren walked to room 402 where he stopped at the door to call into the station.
"Sheriffs office Deputy Taylor speaking what can I do ya for?"
"Finch you sound like a damn hick why ain't Hannah answering the phone?
"Well ain't that the pot callin the kettle black? She got a call out for an injury on the football field Sheriff."
"No matter, I want you to run a missing person and prior check on our girl here. Check up with that Lana girl as well."
Ren tried to think if there was anything else but left it at that and told Taylor to hold down the fort as he would be out of the office the rest of the day.
Jenna heard the door to her room open and tried to stay as still as possible. She pretended to sleep and waited to see what this new man who walked into her room would do. She could feel her heart picking up speed and heard the monitors pick up as well. She felt a hand on her ankle and felt instantly calm and slipped off asleep again.
Ren knew she wasn't sleeping when he came in and could only imagine how afraid she could be. When he heard the heart monitor pick up he gently grabbed her ankle and pushed a calming feeling into her. He watched her drift back off to sleep and took a seat in the chair in her room. He stayed there and just watched over her. He may not feel love for her but he felt the animal instinct to protect her.
