Ren called Dr. Stivers and had him come for the body. Taylor took pictures and bagged anything they found around it.
Ren studied the scene carefully and then his eyes narrowed. "Taylor look at the body again. Closely this time."
"What am I looking for Ren?"
"You'll see it."
"Holy shit Ren. That's not possible!"
There were precise cuts on the body. At first glance you would think it was a shifter fight, but there were fine slices behind the knees, inside the elbows and if he were to guess, across the throat. Whoever killed him decided to try and hide it by going wolf and ripping the throat out.
"So we have the dead body of a shifter smelling of little Jenna, and a trained and skilled killer, Ren this doesn't add up."
"Keep this under wraps for now Taylor and make sure you tell The rest of ours to keep their eyes open.I don't know what we're up against but whatever this is, it ain't pretty. I'll see if Bailey can get anymore out of Jenna."
They went back to the Sheriffs office and loaded all the evidence onto a usb drive while they waited for the doc to finish the autopsy. They made two copies. One for Ren and one for Taylor. When they were done they ordered a pizza and tossed around a few scenarios. The phone rang and Taylor answered. It was the doc calling with the results. Taylor went down and got the report and handed it to Ren. They opened it up and Ren tensed. "Shit I was hoping I was wrong."
"Oh come on Ren you don't really think?"
Ren just lifted an eyebrow and Taylor frowned.
Lost in thought he heard Ren say.
"Taylor before you head home I want you to look into the Decauter family a little more. Something about her dad just didn't feel right. Let me know what you find out tomorrow."
Ren went to Calum's place and had him call Hannah,Sarah,Adam and Jerry over. He gave them a quick update and listened to what they had to say. Adam was the first to speak up. "We followed you back here because we're family. Iraq changed all of us man. You know we got your back." Hannah waited so Jerry spoke next. "I'm sure Adam is going to agree with me on this but Ren if that autopsy is right then whoever did this was trained, military trained." What do you think Hannah? Ren asked. " I think when we followed you here and became pack we put you in charge. I trust you and will stand by you. Sarah spoke next. "I think you know who did this and if your right then we better all be back on our A game. After that they sat and waited to see what Ren would do. "Alright keep this quite. Keep your eyes open. Go home. Everyone be at my place at 10 tomorrow."
By the time Ren got home it was late and the girls had already gone to bed. He went upstairs and took a shower then went to the spare bedroom next to his that he had turned into a small office. He booted up his computer and started going through all of the files he had on Jenna and of the murder scene. He thought he heard whimpers and sat still for a moment and then he felt a pulse of fear run through him. Footsteps padded against the floor. When he looked up he saw Jenna standing in the doorway white as a ghost and sweating. He didn't say anything just pushed his chair back and opened his arms. Jenna walked into them, sat on his lap and let him enfold her. He kissed the top of her head and sent as much calming as he could through their small tentative bond. They must of sat there for an hour before Ren finally spoke.
"I know it was you Jenna.
Jenna took a shuddering breath and let the tears fall.
"I swore I wouldn't do it ever again when I got free.
But I couldn't let him tell them where I was."
