Michael's POV

It's been three days. I've thought it over and over and over and I just...can't do this.

How can I raise my fiancé's rapist's baby?

I leave my house and walk to Anne's house. Maybe Kelsey can give me some enlightenment on this matter. I need to know why.

Anne's POV

There's a knock on the door. I get up and answer it.

"Hello, Anne. May I speak with Kelsey? "

I nod and say, "Come on in. "

I close the door behind him. I say,

"Kelsey's been in her bed for 3 days. I hope your presence can lift her spirits. "

Michael nods and goes down the hallway to Kelsey's room.

20 minutes later, I hear a crash and Kelsey yell, “I won't destroy my baby because of his father's mistake! ”

I hurry to Kelsey's room. I open the door. Kelsey is standing up, a vase in her hand. She yells,

“Get out! ”

She throws the vase at Michael. He ducks and yells, “Stop throwing things! ”

I grab Kelsey's arms and say, “Calm down, sweetie. ”

She begins to break down and cry. I look at Michael, angry, and say,

“I think you should leave, now.

Michael's POV

I shake my head and leave the house. As I walk cross their lawn to get to the sidewalk, I hear,

“Michael wait! ”

I stop and turn around. Kelsey is standing there. Her eyes are red from crying. She has a tissue clenched in her hand. She says,

“My parents were hooked on drugs all my life. Even before I was born. Throughout my mother's pregnancy she remained on drugs. My aunt has told me how surprised she was when I didn't turn to drugs, even during my horrible teen years. My parents are drug addicts and I, the product of them, graduated highschool and got accepted into Duke University.... This baby's father may be a rapist, but with my love and guidance, he can become the president, or he can get into the NBA, or NFL, or he can cure cancer  or he can end racism- ”

“He can be an actor or a singer. He can be the world's greatest writer. ”

She smiles and nods. I haven't seen her smile in three days. I walk towards her. She's right. I never thought about it like that. If she can steer away from her parents lifestyle, then we can raise this baby to be an outstanding citizen. I say,

“Kelsey...I will never leave your side again. I was wrong. I should've never doubted you or...Our baby.”

Her eyes shine as I call the baby ours.

“I promise you, I'll never leave.”

She hugs me tightly and I do the same to her. She whispers, “You're going to be an amazing daddy. ”

I sure will...
