Jonah walked into the meeting room, seeing Ember sitting all by herself.
"Hey."
She looked over. "Oh hey."
"Let me guess, you're in trouble too?"
"For god knows what reason. Apparently JJ still thinks he can come after me, even though what happened was almost a year ago. He never likes to give up until he wins. The prime example of a douchebag if you ask me."
"Apparently the way I handle criminals isn't legal. I've been 'too rough' according to IA."
She threw her head back and laughed. "Screw IA. Nothing you guys ever do is legal, so why is it just you and your sister getting in trouble? Why not the whole unit?"
"My only guess is because my sister and I are Justin's niece and nephew. I don't even know."
"Straight up bullshit is what I call."
"My sentiments exactly."
A few minutes later, Erin, Jay, Kelly, Leslie, Justin and a few guys in suits entered the room.
"Ms. Severide, there have been several complaints made against you."
"Okay, I pushed a guy off me once, but he attacked me for treating a guy he got in a fight with."
"That is assault."
"You know what? You can take that 'file' of yours and shove it-" She began, with a stern look on her face.
"Ember, no." Kelly whispered.
Edwin was taken by surprise, not expecting that to come from her.
"I'm a paramedic who works for this city. There's not been one complaint made against me, by anyone! People I've helped saved, babies I've delivered, almost everyone has come back to me to thank me for what I did. Mackenzie and I both. We haven't done a damn thing."
"That's not what this file says."
She rolled her eyes. "Does it look like I care what some file says?! You're so full of crap."
Mikayla cracked a smile, and put her hand over her mouth to prevent from laughing.
"You find something funny, Ms. Halstead?"
"What do you have against females working for the city?"
"I never said I did, so don't put words in my mouth again."
"Well you're doing a great job sounding like it. Like Ember said, you can shove those files up your-"
"Do I need to bring the police and fire commissioners in here?"
"I'm sitting right here, in case you forgot." Leslie gave a slight wave.
"And what's your position?"
"Police Commissioner Leslie Shay."
"And where would the fire commissioner be?"
"He couldn't be here today because he has other matters to attend to."
After much debate, a couple screaming matches and paperwork was signed, the meeting was over.
"I told you there was nothing against us." Jonah said, opening the door.
"My sincerest apologies, Mr. Halstead."
