Locked In

I raced home, still in ninja mode. I’ve snuck out a few times before, so my stealth skill is acceptably good. Maybe I should try out to be a ninja one day. As I stepped out of my car, the house was dark, meaning that everyone’s still asleep. So I cracked the door open and slithered in. I made sure that I made no noise. I tiptoed, trying to make my shoes not produce that annoying squeaking noises. I placed my keys on the counter and snuck back to my room. I thought it was all good, but then everything changed. A hand clamped my mouth and I was pushed against the wall, “Where have you freaking been? It’s really late! Ally, you need to stop sneaking out!” Andy whispered harshly,

I startled a little because he snuck behind me. I smacked his hand away, “Stop doing that, will you?”

            “Where were you?” He demanded,

“I went out for a drive.” I shrugged,

His eyes narrowed threateningly, “No you’re not.”

I groaned, “Fine, it wasn’t just a drive.”

            “Then what were you doing?”

“I was doing our big brother and his son a favor, okay? I got him AJ’s job. Why now? Because we’re leaving later today, remember?”

His face changed, “You got Glen a job?”

“I don’t know about you but they need help getting back up to their feet.”

He smiled, “You’re giving your other big brother a helping hand?”

“Why not?” I shrugged, “Aren’t you going to help him too?”

            “How?”

“I don’t know.” I shrugged, “How about you boys get along like you used to be?”

“I can do that, but that doesn’t mean that I’d forgive him.”

I scowled, “Don’t be a dick, Andy. That guy’s in a roller coaster where there’s an endless slope of ups.”

“Isn’t going up the best part?”

“If the way up to the top is already this bad, how bad will the top be?” I asked rhetorically,

He sighed, “I’ll see what I can do.”

“Forgive him. That’s it. It’ll mean a lot to him. If you two could get along because of me once, then I think you could do it again.”

            “Wait, what do you mean?”

“Mom told me everything. She told me how you two rascals were able to become salt and pepper by the time I was born.” I smirked teasingly, “Where did those boys go? I know they’re somewhere in there.”

He chuckled, “How do you do that?”

            “Do what?”

            “Convince people.”

“I just say the things I want to say.” I shrugged,

“Okay, then what should I do?

            “I told you, forgive him.”
