There are two types of people who walk on the surface of this planet. Normal people and then there’s the people who has the guts to wake me up with a pinch in the nose. I think they know who they are. It took me a five second pinch in the nose to wake me up this time. As my eyes tried to focus on my vision, Cubbie was too close. “Hey, sleepyhead.”
I groaned, “How long was I out?”
“Since when were you asleep?”
“After I called you.” I rubbed my eyes, “How long was that?”
He chuckled, “You were out for six hours.”
“Well, damn.”
Pontius flopped on my legs, “Feeling any better?”
“I think so.” I paused, “Since when did you get here?”
“We just got here.” Mark flopped on Andy’s couch, but he’s not there anymore. “Thanks for inviting us.”
Isom flopped next to Mark and patted his stomach, “I haven’t eaten anything since we landed.”
“Feel free to devour mom’s food stock.” I murmured, “I don’t mind.”
Then Stella toddled towards me with a thermometer in her hands, “Where does this go?” She asked,
Andy peeked in, “Remember when you were sick? Where did I put it?”
“My ears!” She pointed like she just answered the million-dollar question,
“That’s my girl.” He nodded and disappeared again,
“Do you need any help?” Cubbie offered,
“No, I can do it! I want to take the tempature.”
“Temperature.” I corrected,
“Tempture.”
“It’s temperature.”
“Tempachure.”
“Temp… Pe… Ra… Ture…”
“Tem… per… ture…”
“Tempera- never mind, I’ll get your dad to teach you that. Don’t be surprised if I give you a good thick dictionary instead of dolls.”
“One hardheaded kid.”
I snorted, “Let the kid do it so she won’t throw a tantrum.”
She was able to do it properly and my ear didn’t go deaf or anything. That’s a good sign. “What does it say?”
“Let me read that for you.” Cubbie took it from her, “It’s not that bad. Your temperature went down.”
“Stella, do you still remember them?” I nodded at the guys,
“No.” She shook her head microscopically,
“They’re my buddies and they like to annoy me a lot of times.”
“Aren’t buddies supposed to care?” She pouted and folded her arms, “Buddies aren’t supposed to be mean to each other.”
