Chapter 2: Avalon
I wish I knew the real reason Ciara ran off like that. I mean, it's not like her to just run off like that! Maybe she's got a secret boyfriend. It's not like she wouldn't have a chance, she's beautiful! She's got cascading jet black hair that falls to her back. It's straight until her shoulders, where all of a sudden, her hair shifts to corkscrew-like curls. Her sea green eyes are perfection. They look just like an exotic ocean.
But I just don't understand her at all! Whenever we head to the beach, she just hangs out in the shade of the palm trees in one of her bikinis that reveal her hard-earned six pack and reads a book. And it's always one of those weird Percy Jackson books. She never goes within ten feet of the water.
Speaking of hot weather, she never sweats either! Even when we have the three mile run for PE in school. And in the warmer months when we do the swim unit, guess what? She never swims! She gets a doctor's note detailing an allergy to the chlorine solution in the pool. She was the fastest swimmer in the grade! (And I would know, I've known her practically since kindergarten!) But about last year, she quit!
Come to think of it... She hasn't been the same since last year!!!! Where has my friend gone?
