Once the war got over, there was no more need for the four siblings to stay in Narnia. They had to return home to London and continue their normal lives there.
Susan knew this clearly. But in her heart she felt a little reluctant. She was never one to be interested in love and boys. Not until Caspian. The prince gave her no chance. She couldn't help falling for him from first sight.
But now the time had come for them to part. It was so soon and she didn't know if she could ever find someone like Caspian in her world. And even if she did, she wasn't sure she would be able to fall for him like she had for Caspian. She watched as her siblings bid goodbye. Reluctantly, she too bid goodbye and walked away from Narnia like she was not regretting it one bit.
Soon the four siblings returned to London. The train that they had to board arrived and Peter urged his siblings to catch the train. After boarding the train, Lucy noticed how Susan looked a little spaced out. She knew Susan was not someone who has casual relationships. She worried that Susan might not get over her love for Caspian.
She asked Susan if she was thinking about Caspian, knowing very well that she would not get a reply. Susan was always someone who dealt with her problems on her own. Be it emotional or something else. Lucy both admired and hated this quality of her sister. She wished her sister would confide in her and that she could be of more help to her. Susan remained silent for the rest of their journey back home.
Back in Narnia, Caspian was not doing much better. He was missing Susan terribly and wished he could hold her in his arms. Despite taking charge as a king and carrying on his duties, his heart kept yearning for Susan. Months passed but his love for her never waned. He couldn't bring himself to love another or even think about marriage. Like a programmed machine, he kept working for the sake of carrying out his duties.
One day, one of his close confidants, Randal, who was quite concerned about his friend, confronted King Caspian. He knew he had to put a stop to the moping of the King. After months of watching the king moping around because of love, he couldn't put up with it any longer. He realized if the king kept this up, then he wouldn't live for long.
While King Caspian was moping around, he did not care about his health, which resulted in his health deteriorating. Randal knew if this continued he wouldn't do any good as a king. He also wished his friend could finally find some happiness in his miserable life.
And so, Randal did what any best friend would do. Help his friend. Randal told Caspian to stop moping around and find a way to be with Queen Susan because she is the only one who can make him happy. And being the good friend he is, he found the lamp post rumored to be near the gateway from which the four siblings emerged. He gave all this information and wished his friend luck in finding the one he loved.
Caspian realized that he could no longer continue in this manner. He needed his Queen by his side to be a good and happy king. So, he appointed his friend Randal as the regent to govern the kingdom in his stead and began his journey in search of the love of his life.
