"Do you love me?" She asked. A smile was large and noticeable on her lit up face.
"Cross my heart and hope to die." He laughed, putting a hand over his heart.
"I love you." She smiled and kissed him full on the lips, he kissed her back. The fire was lit. It was wild. Uncontrollable.
She shot up from her dream. She was sweating. She was shaking. She put her hands on her forehead. She was contemplating it all. She choked out a sob. She looked over at him sleeping. Peacefully. She smiled slightly at him. He was always a deep sleeper.
She gripped her arms, she choked out another sob, still shaking from the dream. She had surely lost all his love. Clearly.
"Lily?" He looked at her. Her porcelain complexion was worn down. Broken. She looked over at him. She locked eye contact with him. "Shawn." She choked out another sob. She flung herself on him, gripping on to him and sobbing into his chest.
He embraced her into a hug. Laying with her, for the first time in forever, it had meaning. Emotion. Feeling.
She fell asleep in his arms.
Did she love him still? Or was that about her not loving him anymore? Was this all broken? All that they had done to be together was going to waste? Was it really. He tried going back to sleep but not being able to.
She loved him at one time. The night he crossed his heart and hoped to die. She lied to him. Said there was no other. He knew. He knew what she did. What she does.
He let go of her, getting out of bed, he walked to the couch, bringing a pillow and blanket. He slept on the couch. He couldn't stand laying with her. It was too much.
For him.
For her.
For everyone.
