Chapter 6 - It's All About Timing

Alden's POV

"Hey Dad." I smiled as I handed him the brewed coffee I bought for him by the time I got home. "Rizza" I snorted as I gave her a box of doughnut she was craving for.

"Thanks Kuya. This is why I love you." She said and the sarcasm was pretty obvious.

"Yeah I know. Pero I don't love you." I joked as I messed her hair a bit.

"Den, there were pictures of you with some fans. Ano nangyari?" Dad showed me a collage of pictures.

"Well... It was fine. They were pretty much understanding. I had fun jogging this night." I smiled and went to the restroom.

Hot Water. AH, yes. The warm water went running down into every patch of my skin and it was so relaxing. By the time I finished taking a bath, my phone rang and I hurriedly spun half of my body into my towel. I went to my phone which is placed at the table, and it was a missed call from Sam, my friend. As I took the steps on the stairs, I felt some sting at my back. And it is really painful. I put on my sleeping clothes, pajamas and a plain shirt, childish, I know. I thought that lying on the bed in the midst of 10 pm would remove the pain I am feeling, but it didn't help. "Rizza!" I yelled as I felt the pain getting worse.

"What is it?!" She said in a high tone, eating a doughnut. "Oh..." she looked surprised.

"Get me some Ice pack! Please! And--"

"Alden? What's wrong?" Dad looked worried.

"Pain." I hurriedly replied as I tried to balance my body.

"Okay ka lang?" Dad asked.

"Okay lang ako. Super awesome nga eh. Kalmado lang ako." I said sarcastically.

"Ah, okay." He teased as Rizza entered my room with my needs.

"DAD!" I groaned. And he laughed. Thank you Dad. Thank you.

By the time I felt better, I went on calling Sam. A few rings and then he answered it. "Hey bro." He said.

"Hey. Why did you called?"

"Well, Ms. Dianne told me you and Maine met. Accidentally." I can feel him chuckling.

"Well... Yeah.." I said trying to change the subject.

"Mind to share?" He added quickly.

"Well..." And I started narrating what happened back then.

Flashback

"Well! I smell destiny here!" Ms. Dianne teased as we both went back to our sits. "Blimey! Is that the time? I should go now! Maine, Pat will be here in an hour. Alden, well..." Damn! Does she really need to leave?

"Yeah, I'll take care of her." I smiled and she left. Maine and I were both playing with our drinks eversince Ms. Dianne left. There's this awkward silence between us. But, I decided to break that silence.

"Hey." I smiled.

"Hi." She smiled back.

"Alden Richards." I handed out my hand to shake, but it took a long time before she shook my hand back. She was completely staring at me, and it's really awkward.

"Maine. Maine Mendoza." She smiled with her charm.

Like no one else can do. Her phone suddenly rang. She smiled. "Excuse me." After a few seconds, she ended the call.

"I guess I have to go. How fast the time is, right?" She laughed.

"Yeah. I thought Pat would be here in an hour. But she came earlier. Just wow." I humped on to her joke. It was only 15 minutes and Pat had arrived.

"So, let's go?" I insisted. When we went out, I saw Pat waving at us. Bet it's time to say goodbye. "Goodbye." I smiled, and made a wide grin to her.

"Hey, you've got some chocolate on your lips." She told me and laughed a little.

"Really?" I tried to lick my lips but I guessed I missed the spot. I was surprised when she suddenly braced her soft hand onto my left cheek and her finger started to move at the corner of my mouth. I felt myself blushed. After that, she stared at me, and I stared at her.

"Maine?" Pat excused, which I concluded it really is time to go.

"Oh, sorry." She quickly removed her hand from my face and started to walk to their car. "Hey, thank you." I stated.

"No worries." She said shyly.

"Goodbye!" We both said and laughed. And her smile was the last thing I saw as their car drove away.

END of flashback

"So that's it?" Sam asked through the other line. Does he want more? There's none already!

"That's all." I said calmly, not knowing what struck my smile to fade.

"Hey, are you okay?" He asked.

"Yeah. I just... remembered something." Why am I having a vision of a girl?

"Fine dude. Oh, Jules just texted me." Holy sht. "She said she is already back here in the Philippines. Julie Anne is back yo!" He teased.

"Oh. Yeah. Thanks bro. See you tomorrow." And I ended the call.
