I quickly grabbed him by the collar "WHAT?"

"hey, calm down" he held his hands up away from me "just listen!"

I let him go and he brushed the rumples from his shirt "You have a minute to explain exactly what the hell is going on in that twisted fucked up mind of yours"

"First off if anyone is twisted here it's you, you banshee. And second off Cian is just a friend, and he's good! Don't worry. Cian was just born as a Night walker, just because he is one doesn't mean he is evil. Some people just can't help what they are born as."

"I still don't trust him if he is good why do I feel darkness exuding from him?"

"Like I said he's a Night walker, he can't help that."

"Mhm. Some people just can't seem to help being murderous and evil though" I looked at him pointedly and immediately regretted the sharp words that came to my mouth, well for a second. His eyes went dark as he clenched his fist

"I see, so that's how you see me?" His voice came out dark as the room seemingly dimmed and filled with the crackling sense of maliciousness and fury, it was almost suffocating as even I felt all my hairs stand on end.

"How else am I supposed to view either of you?!"

"Haha, I shouldn't have expected anything more" his gloved hand suddenly hooked around my throat as he slammed me into the wall "Listen you little self absorbed bitch. I saved your life, so we are even. I could just leave you lying around on the street for the police to get, or maybe to get captured and sold to the highest bidder. But I didn't. I will not allow you to hurt my friend because you have a bad 'feeling' about him." He sneered as I grabbed at my throat, fear overtaking my body "I don't care if you believe me or not, but I didn't mean to hurt anyone" I noticed his hand wasn't even tight on my throat as he dropped me before walking off and slamming a door closed. I could feel heat prickling off of where he touched.

Cian appeared shortly after and helped me stand as he smiled softly "Want to go for a walk?"

I could only nod, shortly after we were out in the streets again, music playing, voices intermingling, and weaving a beautiful song. The warm smell of food hit me again as Cian pulled me along smiling like a child "love this town, I love my home... Do you like peppermint coffee?"

"Yea"

"Well of course you do!" he pulled me into a warm café with water chairs, the smell of coffee and pastries swirling around us as music flowed in from the streets. Soon enough I was forgetting about all the days horrible troubles, finding out about James, fighting with Blaike, the fear and terror of all this running away... poof. It was gone. I let myself sink into the warm peppermint smell as all my nerves relaxed and all the tension left.

"Better?" I opened my eyes to see Cian lounging in the chair beside mine a relaxed smile on his face "I usually come here when things get too, overwhelming... When you're ready I can take you to the docks, it's really pretty down there at night"

We wandered down the streets and eventually reached the docks the cool breeze and salty air relaxed the senses and my heart beat slowed. I let a lighthearted smile grow on my lips. Soon enough we were sitting at the docks, waves moving and crashing, sounding like the sleeping breath of the ocean. I let my legs hang over the side and rocked them back and forth.

"He didn't mean to scare you"

"Well I could say I wasn't scared but we both know that would be a lie." I gave a faint chuckle and a half smile as he smiled softly back, sitting beside me.

"Lilja Awendela, lily sunshine." He started messing with little threads on his clothes. "Your name suits you, you have this air of light around you"

I busted out laughing "Haha yeah right!"

"No no, it's true." He smiled at me and ruffled my hair "Never loose that light, it's a precious thing to hold... and Lilja, don't worry. If you ever need anything, don't worry about depending on Blaike or me, yea we aren't much to look at and we don't have any common sense but we are pretty good people" I started laughing

"I guess I could live with depending on you guys... I'm sorry about saying you were evil"

"Don't worry about it's a normal reaction, I don't blame you. Yea, I am a Night walker and you should fear the Night walkers. I just hope you can believe me when I say for me, it's just a title. If I could throw it away I would in a second. I want to be honestly good... I WILL be honestly good. Someday people won't fear me."

I looked in his eyes and saw genuine hope and I knew right then and there that I could trust him; I did trust him, fully and completely.

"Now!" he clapped his hands and stood up, quickly pulling me up with him "Why don't we go have some fun?" He quickly pulled me along to where the music that floated through the city had originated. Here there were people laughing and dancing without a care in the world.

He held his hand out to me and I laughed, he couldn't be serious "I don't dance"

"Oh don't give me that, everyone dances!" He grabbed my hand and pulled me into the throng of dancing bodies "Just follow my awesome moves and maybe you won't look too bad" He grinned.

Soon enough I let the beat move through me and I was dancing and laughing with him. As the music slowed and we finally caught our breath, red faces and heavy breathing with goofy smiles on our faces. He grabbed my hand and twirled me when I suddenly ran straight into Blaike's chest.

"I'll take her from here Cian" His voice sounded strangely tense, Cian nodded and disappeared into the crowd to find a new dance partner.

The song was considerably slower as we swayed to the soft music "Listen.. I uh.. yea.." he looked down

"What?" I looked up at him totally confused as he started blushing

"I... I am trying to say.. you know.."

"Not really"

"I'm trying to tell you I am, I am sorry for overreacting..."

"O-oh" I laughed, the tension in the air completely dissolving

"h-hey don't laugh at me!" His cheeks were lit up like a wildfire on his skin.

"Don't worry about that. You were being a good friend, you care a lot about your friends which makes me feel like I can trust you, at least a little more than I had before"

He gave out a sigh as if a large weight had been lifted "Well, I will take it. We have to work together not to get caught or killed, and that means we have to trust each other."

When we finally got back home and I fell asleep in a warm cushioned bed I kept seeing Blaike's face bright like a tomato, and I started smiling at the memories of tonight racing through my head as I slipped into a cozy dream, though Cians odd words still rang in my head ominously  never loose that light. What had he meant?
