The next day I finally got to see the city full on. Cian showed us around, taking us to cafes and little trinket shops; then later to the bustling docks where vendors were selling fresh foods, interesting fish, trinkets and fabrics from far away places I could only hope to one day visit. The sun lofted high in the sky as a cool breeze kept it from being unbearable. It was already late in the day since we all stayed asleep until almost noon. I was sitting watching an entertainer juggle heavy stones while laughing and singing as if the large rocks were as light as feathers.

"Hey you guys I thought something to cool you off would be nice" Cian held up sherbet of bright colors. Blaike took one and laughed.

"You can have the cherry and I will stick with the lemon" he smiled at me and I bit into the wondrous shivering and smooth substance, flavor bursting into my mouth as it already started melting.

"So, when we get back to the house I have someone I've been wanting you guys to meet" a blush crept onto his cheeks "It's uh, my boyfriend" I saw the happiness in his eyes as a shy smile broke upon his face, just thinking about the person made him fill with joy. I wanted to ask more about the person but the performer took my attention from the conversation.

I watched him finish and noticed how he was looking straight at me "Come see the Cirque de monstres. We don't bite too hard" I saw him grin and realized he had sharp canines, I felt a slight shiver go down my spine as he suddenly vanished. A astounding applause and gasps left in his wake.

Soon as it got darker we began back to Cians apartment, something didn't feel right though and I couldn't explain it. There was just this gut feeling that something dark was waiting for us. When we reached his floor the first thing I noticed was the door ajar, I couldn't have imagined what was waiting for us.

Everything was thrown everywhere, glass punctured torn pictures and walls with slashes through out. The couch was ripped apart, the windows were shattered, dishes, clothes, the bed I had laid asleep on just hours ago, destroyed in a mad rage. Words carved into the walls, the floors, blood splattered words reading 'traitor!' 'You can't run from what you are' 'give her to us' 'kill her' I went to open a door and saw the bloodied hand of someone, I followed the hand and spotted a body of a guy, not even 20 years old, dead. His torso was littered with shards of glass stabbed deeply into his flesh, blood still bubbling up from the gashes, When Cians eyes moved over to the body he let out a strangled cry.

The phone rang an off key in the suddenly blaringly silent night, Cian hurried over and put it on speaker, fear and misery blatant in his eyes.

A soft voice rang out from the speaker, taunting yet furious and colder than ice, each word sounding like daggers. "I know what you've done my child. It's your fault he died" the voice sounded sick, enjoying the horror, fear, and despair that shot through the room. The tension of it all was almost visible. "Bring her to me, dead or alive, and you may be forgiven. You can't run from what you are, let the darkness take you, both of you." There was a cold laugh and then the phone went dead.

Blaike was shaking with fury, and I was trembling with fear. I could feel ice running in my veins, suddenly the beautiful town seemed so dim, dark.

Unsafe, run! Run! I was frozen to the spot I'm going to die. They meant me, why? How?

Quickly Blaike took a hold of my hand and pulled me with him, taking me from the horrid scene. I could hear the muffled cries of pain and fury from Cian and I knew he was looking at everything he ever had, all destroyed. I realized who the boy in the room was as I saw Cian came out with clenched fists. I knew from the look in his reddened teary eyes immediately, it was the one he told us so happily that he was going to introduce to us. So much had been taken from him, ripped from him, in a matter of seconds.

The air left no room to speak as I quietly followed Blaike, Cian walking beside me, lips trembling and hands shaking.

Suddenly we had no place to go again.
