As I was making my way to his house I realized I hadn't phoned him that I would be on my way. I sure hope he likes surprises.
I walked up onto his porch and took in a deep breath before knocking but I didn't need to because the door opened already. It was Mr. Gates.
"Well hello there Melody, I was just coming outside for some fresh air. I wasn't expecting any visitors." He said in his cute old man voice.
"Sorry, is Liam home?" I asked.
"He's in his room, still setting things up. You can go on in and help if you would like." He said, picking up the watering can for his flowers that sat on the ledge of the porch.
"Sure." I smiled and stepped inside the house. I've only been in this house once and it was to help Mr. and Mrs. Gates paint their kitchen. I looked around at what they have done to the place, it had a beach theme to it. Pale yellow and blue walls with even seashell wallpaper in the kitchen. I remember putting that up. I smiled at the memory.
"Oh! Well hello dear." Mrs. Gates stopped in her tracks. I must of scared her.
"Hi Mrs. Gates, sorry. I'm here to see Liam, I hope you don't mind."
"Of course not dear, he's in his room down the hall unpacking still." She patted me on the shoulder before taking off to the porch.
I walked down the hall slowly to take in the home. It's so beautiful, the hues went along together perfectly. I stopped when I heard quiet cries coming from the bedroom straight ahead of me. Could that be Liam? Well duh, Melody it has to be. No one else lives here but him and his grandparents.
I continued walking and knocked softly. He looked up... From his piano. I was in shock, I didn't know he could play. He was crying because of his dedication to piano. That's so beautiful.
"I'm sorry, I didn't mean to interrupt. I'll go." I felt my cheeks flush red. I started to turn around but he stood up and gently put a hand onto my arm.
"Stay." He said quietly. I was instantly intrigued.
He sat down at his piano and I sat next to him. I watched as his fingers hit the keys so softly and elegant. The sound was like wind chimes. Just absolutely beautiful.
"You're amazing." I whispered, completely astonished.
"Thank you." He chuckled in the cutest voice ever, I melted inside.
"What brings you here?" He asked, taking a break from playing.
"I had a fight with my mom, again." I was ashamed. I truly was. Lately I've been running away from my problems. I've been relying on other people to help me get through the bad times. I should be relying on God more.
"Oh, I'm sorry. So you came here to talk?" He asked.
"Yes." I looked down at the piano keys, to embarrassed to look him in the eyes.
"Hey, don't be ashamed. We all have problems or something we are going through." He lifted my chin with his one finger, bringing our faces extremely close.
"Whoa." I whispered. I wanted to face palm myself after letting my self say that out loud.
"Sorry." He pulled away.
"No, no. It's okay." I could feel the heat rising up again.
"So, why did you guys fight?" He asked. I sighed as the awkwardness soon left.
"About Colin. My mom told his mom what happened and his parents were going to ship him off to rehab. Once he finds out, I'm the reason, he's going to kill me." I put my head in my hands. The tears were making a comeback again.
"I don't mean to take your mom's side but it's truly for the best. What if he hurt you again? What if there were no bystanders to save you?" He asked. I felt his words hit me. He was absolutely right, things could of been a lot worse.
"You're right, my mom is too." I stood up immediately, heading for the door.
"Wait, will I see you again?" He asked and my heart did a little jump of excitement.
"Yes." I smiled before leaving.
I walked out onto the porch and gasped what I saw standing in front of me.
"Mrs. Gates! What have you done?" I immediately accused, which is very unlikely of me to do but with the scene in front of me, I could only imagine what happened.
"Oh dear, I didn't do anything." She set down the gardening hoe.
"Oh thank heavens." I placed my hand over my heart and bent down to the passed out Mr. Gates.
"He literally just collapsed as you came out, I was tending my garden. What do we do?" She asked.
"Go get Liam, I'll check for a heartbeat. GO!" I ordered. She ran I'm as fastest she could and I bent my head against his chest. C'mon ole Harrison, have it beating.
I listened and it was feint. It was there but barely. Liam came running out with his grandma.
"Call for help." I cried, literally. Liam buckled to his knees and screamed in agony.
"Liam." My voice cracked.
Mrs. Gates fingers were shaking as she dialed so I yanked the phone out of her hand and dialed. Once I made the call, I tossed the phone back to Mrs. Gates.
"Is he going to be okay?" Mrs. Gates was shaking uncontrollably. I held her in my arms and let her soak my shirt with her tears.
"I don't know." I whispered.
