Everyone thought I went into a coma. Wrong. I fell asleep. I could open my eyes if I wanted to, I am just choosing not to. But it was then where someone still had hope in me where they shook my frail frame, mom. I opened my eyes then and everyone crowded over my bed.
"She's awake?" Grandma called in the distance.
"Baby." Mom was crying now.
"Why are you crying mom? I'm awake!" I said, suddenly very scared to hear her next words.
"Honey, it's Liam." She said, putting her hand onto mine for comfort.
"What about him?" I shouted, sitting up now.
"His grandpa has passed away. He died last night. That's why he was trying to get my attention last night. He had a heart attack in his home last night." Mom was sniffling and so was dad.
"I have to see him. Where is he?" I asked, ripping the blanket off of me.
"Liam? He's mourning right now dear. He's home." Mom said, gently pushing me back down.
"Get me out of here." I said through gritted teeth.
"We can't dear. Not until the doctor's say it's okay." Mom said in a calming voice.
"I said, get me the hell out of here." I said once again.
"Melody, language!" Mom scolded me but I ignored.
"Mom you don't understand. Liam needs me." I sat up, pointing my finger in her face.
"Good news Melody, you're going home." A nurse came in with a grand smile on her face and mine. I jumped out of bed and gave her a hug.
"Wow. You can get changed and your parents just have to sign some stuff and you're all good." She said, handing the papers to my mom.
After the nurse left I whispered to mom and she just nodded her head. I quickly went into the bathroom and stripped from the hospital gown and into jeans, tank top and converse. I flew out of the room then and pass the nurses station. I flew down the stairs and out the automatic doors then. I ran down the sidewalk and finally reached my neighborhood. I had to stop when I reached the corner of my street for a breather. I checked my stomach and it was good so I began with a jog to Liam's house. I almost passed the house because I was running too fast. I ran up the steps and didn't bother knocking. I walked right in and into Liam's empty bedroom. I looked around quickly and darted down the hall. I walked into every room, Mrs. Gates was even absent. Probably at the hospital, I thought. But Liam? Where the hell is he? It then popped into my head then. The beach.
I ran so fast out of his house, slamming the door barely leaving it on the hinges. I ran to the beach like a mad woman. I stopped so I could breathe and look around for a lonely teenaged boy. I then caught him out of the corner of my eye, bent down against the shore. I bolted when I spotted him. I was just feet away from him now. I stopped and watched as his head was in his hands. He stood up then, looking at the water. He slowly put one foot in front of the other and started to walk into the Atlantic Ocean. What in the world is he doing? I waited a little longer to see what his intentions were and as the water reached his waist, I knew his intentions were not good.
I threw off my shoes and chased after him into the water. He's taller than me, so the water is deeper on me. I had to actually start swimming. I finally caught him. I landed on his back and wrapped my arms around him.
"LIAM AIDEN GATES WHAT ARE YOU DOING?" I screamed. He was crying, he cried even harder as I yelled at him. I brought him to shore then and we landed on the sand. He instantly hugged me.
"What were you thinking Liam?" I asked, my stomach now stinging from the salt.
"He's gone and he's never coming back. I almost lost you." He cried into my shirt and held him tight. He then lifted up my shirt to see my now probably infected stomach.
"Look at you. You need medical attention right now." He said.
"Liam stop. I left the hospital to come see you. I am fine. Are you okay?" I asked.
"No." He sobbed.
"Don't ever leave me Mel, please don't." He begged.
"Never again." I promised.
