"We have two months together before we're shipped off into the real world and just two days until you're eighteen." Colin said as we were lying on the grass looking up at the clouds.
"Yeah, it's going by fast." I sighed, closing my eyes.
"No party?" He asked, sitting up so he can look me in the eyes.
"Nah, I went out with a bang for the graduation party yesterday. Everyone that would be at my birthday were at the party yesterday. Besides, now that I'm legal, I want to do something crazy with the one that means the most to me." I poked his nose and giggled.
"What do you have in mind?" He picked me up then, bridal style.
"I'm not sure, I was thinking skydiving or hiking a large mountain." I said as he set me down on my feet.
"Or we could...spend some time alone? I could reserve us a seat at a fancy hotel restaurant and maybe a room?" He was really pushing my buttons today.
"Colin, you know my rules about that. I'm still Christian and will follow my values." I shook my head. It was times like this where Colin really annoyed me. I was always scared that his old ways were to follow and he would hurt me again. I've never had the guts to tell him how I feel because he'd either react calmly or kill me, there's no in between. At least, that's how I see it.
"Something is bugging you, I can see it in your eyes." He said as he took my face into his hands which I quickly shook away from.
"No, please don't." I begged.
"Don't what?" He asked.
"Don't. Hurt. Me." I said through gritted teeth, ready to scream.
"I wouldn't ever...where is this coming from?" He asked, stupidly. And then it clicked.
"Samantha, I would never do that." He was pleading, putting his hands out for me to take.
"Who is Samantha?" I asked, my face becoming incredibly hot. I could spit fire and take his head off like a dragon, I'm so mad right now.
"Mel, Mel. Sorry. Jenna is my cousin. She came in this morning to visit for the Summer." He was lying. Lies were written all over his face. I don't know who this Samantha bitch is, but I'm about to find out.
"I got to go. I have youth." I looked him up and down before running out the backyard gates and onto the sidewalk. I felt my chest become heavy as sobs rose through me. I held my chest as I fast walked to my house. But of course to get there, I have to pass Liam's house.
Liam and Samantha were sitting on the porch, laughing and tickling each other. They looked genuinely happy and that caused me to cry even more. I tried to rid the sobs as I approached the house but to no avail, I kept crying.
"Melody?" Samantha stood on her feet then in seconds.
"Melody? What's wrong?" She came down the porch steps and over to me.
I shook my head, putting my hands up for her to stop and not intervene. Liam stayed still on the porch, observing us from a view.
"YOU!" I pointed, once I calmed down.
"Your name is Samantha." I choked out, trying to catch my breath.
"Yeah, it is?" She was playing dumb. She damn well knew what was going on. I'm the stupid one and so is Liam.
"What's going on here?" Liam came down the steps then.
"You're so called girlfriend here, she's cheating on you." I waved at the pathetic bitch standing in front of me.
