Youth group heard about me going back to the hospital so they all waited until I was clear to go on the trip with them. Today I was officially cleared and I was able to go. Mom and dad hugged and kissed me goodbye at the airport. Liam and Colin would both be on the trip as well, so the plane ride there should be grand, I say sarcastically.
"Alright, on this side will be Liam, Melody and Colin." Claire gave us assigned seats like we were in first grade again or something. I groaned and rolled my eyes, which I never really would do but c'mon? Why would she put me in the same row with my current boyfriend and my ex-boyfriend?
"I'm taking window." I pushed in front of Colin, so he wouldn't make me sit in the middle.
"I think I'll take the middle." Colin said, thinking that would be a good idea. He doesn't know that Liam and I are back together. I told Liam we should just keep our relationship on the down low for now. Liam was going to protest but I stopped him short and let Colin take the middle.
The plane took off and I was just waiting for Colin to open his flap. And what does he do thirty seconds later?
"Hey Mel, maybe we can finally be friends again?" He nudged my arm and I looked at him like he just spoke a foreign language.
"Okay, maybe I need to be more clear. I want us to start fresh. New slate. What do you say?" He asked. I bit my lip wondering what I should say. If I say no, then will it sound like I'm involved with someone else and that someone else being Liam?
"Sure. We can start fresh." I blurted out almost immediately, giving him a fake smile. I leaned forward a little and Liam gave me an unhappy look and I just shrugged my shoulders.
I rested my head against the window but was pushed forward from behind. I turned around to see what five year old was kicking my seat but it was just Mary.
"Mary! What was that for?" I whispered-yelled.
"Quit flirting with you know who, you're not making you know who, a very happy camper." She nodded her head in Liam's direction. I sighed and turned back around in my seat with my hands folded across my chest.
"Hey, if it makes you feel any better, Liam is snoozing so he can't hear you and Mary whispering like twelve year olds." Colin whispered in my ear, laughing afterwards. His voice left shivers down my spine. I actually shook for a second and looked at him like he cursed me with some love spell.
"What are you looking at?" He joked. "My abs?" He laughed, slightly lifting up his shirt. I stared at him with a bewildered expression. Is he being serious? He laughed again and pulled his shirt down.
"Mel, you're my girl and always will be." He said and faced forward. He left me speechless, utterly speechless.
My girl? That is probably a girl's favorite thing to be called by a boy but did Colin really have to say that? I love Liam and only Liam.
The rest of the plane ride was peaceful. We arrived to our other airports and boarded our other planes. We finally reached Africa, about fourteen hours later. We all immediately hit the sack when we got to our rooms. I was with Mary again but not Claire. Claire put Amber in our room. Why her? That girl loves my man.
"Why do I have the pull-out couch?" Amber whined, hopping onto the bed part.
"Because." Mary and I groaned in unison as we jumped into our beds.
Amber muttered some profanities under her breath that I wish I didn't hear. It's just a spot to crash every night, she didn't need to make such a big deal out of it.
