Mom and dad were outside my hospital room, crying. Mom was on the phone with every relative at every hour of the day. My grandparents came to visit but they weren't allowed. They waited in the waiting room with my parents. It's been a day since the whole incident. Mom pressed charges against Samantha and now she's in this jail rehab facility. Mom got ahold of Liam and told him he can stay in the waiting room and wait until visitors are allowed or just stay home and mom will keep him updated. Tomorrow I will be eighteen and by the looks of things, I'll be spending my first day as a legal in this place.

A nurse came in then to dress my bandages. I had a giant one wrapped around my head, cheek and stomach. I lost a lot of blood and they had to do a transfusion. I feel a lot better, I really do but whenever I sit up, the room spins. This bandage feels like it weighs a ton.

"Can I have some juice, when you come back in?" I asked the nurse. She nodded her head and smiled.

"And um, when can I go home?" I asked, sitting up the best I could, propped up on my elbows.

"Depends. A different nurse will come in a little later for physical therapy. We're going to get you walking again." She explained.

"I didn't forget." I was confused.

"Yes, we know. But you're lightheaded when you sit up, so we're just going to take slow walks to help gain that normal feeling back." She smiled.

"Just relax. If you're here tomorrow, we'll make your birthday special." She said and left the room.

I sighed and bounced back onto my bed, my head being filled with the same annoying pain that never goes away. The nurses talked to me through this monitor thing and buzzed me telling me visitors can now enter and I shouldn't be alarmed when my family comes bustling through. They weren't kidding either because in came mom at a fast walk with dad and my grandparents not too far behind.

"Oh baby. Marvin, mom, dad, let's pray for our beautiful girl." They formed a circle and I shut my eyes, listening along.

"Amen." They said in sync at the end.

Mom was the instant crier. She saw my bandages and instantly burst into a million of emotions while dad tried playing it cool, rocking back and forth on his heels. Grandma and grandpa held hands as they looked at me at the end of the bed.

"Crystal, give her some space." Dad pulled mom away and they looked out the window as they waited for me to speak first.

"Hello everybody." I spoke then, barely a whisper.

"Hi baby. How are you?" Mom asked, turning away from the window.

"A little better. I think I can go home tomorrow." I smiled.

"We just want you to get better. We'll celebrate after, if we have to." Dad chimed in.

"Where's Liam?" I asked.

"He's here. Would you like to see him?" Dad asked.

"Yes please." I sat up a little, the room not spinning for once.

Dad took my grandparents to the cafeteria and mom stayed by close incase I needed anything. Liam walked in with a guilty look on his face.

"Please don't." I begged, sitting all the way up, leaning against pillows.

"I needed the saving and now its you. I think that says something about us. We're meant to be." He laughed. Was he serious? Was he playing the 'your my soul-mate card'?

"You can't be serious." I said, shaking my head laughing.

"I love your smile." He said, taking my hand into his.

"I never meant for any of this happen. I just wanted to be the perfect boyfriend but then the person who truly rules my world -my grandpa- got ill and I took out my anger on everyone else I love. I am so sorry Melody." He said, with pleading eyes.

"I understand, it's okay. But I'm done chasing boys. When it's my time to be with someone, the time will happen." I let go of his hand then and avoided eye contact.

"Why are you doing this?" He asked, his voice showing aggravation.

"This whole whirlwind of events have deeply affected me, as you can see. And this isn't healthy Liam. My life isn't a movie. It isn't simple like it use to be. I've avoided my duties at church for awhile now all because I had feelings for two boys at the same time. That's so selfish of me." I shook my head. I'm so sorry God, I thought to myself.

"If it's meant to be, we will cross each other's paths sooner or later. Now excuse me, I need to get my butt out of this hospital." I shooed him out of the way and stood up carefully.

"Where do you think you're going?" He asked, following me to the door.

"Leaving this joint." I snatched my overnight bag from the chair near the door and marched over to the nurses station.

"They are going to think you're psychotic. They will discharge you when they know you will be ready." Liam practically clotheslined me.

"Jeez, injured girl here." I said, pulling his arm down and continued my march.

"How can I help you dear?" One nurse asked.

"I would like to go home." I said like I was tough shit or something.

"That's for the doctors and us to decide." She said as nicely as she could.

"Please, could you take your girlfriend back to her room." The nurse asked Liam.

"Of course, c'mon babe." Liam slung his arm around me and I gave him a death glare.

"Even she thinks we're together. We're going to be sooner or later whether you accept it or not." He smiled and helped me into bed.

"I got it, thanks." I pushed him away and lied down miserably.

"I'm going to go. I'll text you later." He gave me that damn cheeky grin again!

"No thanks." I responded with that same stupid grin.

"Bye Mel, I love you." He bent down and kissed my forehead. I didn't smack his hand away and I don't know why.

As he walked away, my eyes followed him until he was gone. Maybe one day we'll be a thing but for now, he means nothing to me.
