Graduation Party

Mom and dad finally had time to fit in my grad party for high school. I graduated from school back in May but mom and dad didn't want to have a party until end of June because they wanted people to have time to start out their summer's. There was a lot of begging to be done, but it was well worth it. My party will be at the Country Club a little ways down from our house. I once went there with my dad when I was a little girl for a golf outing and I fell in love with the venue. Large water fountains in the lobby, a nice dining hall with a grand piano. It looked like a mansion inside and I always said I would have a grand ole party in it one day. We even got a discount for booking a party there because Dad is a member.

"No, no, no! The seating cards have to be perfect." I ran over to the party planner we hired. She wasn't doing a very good job.

"Hun, this is a graduation party, not a wedding." She huffed, with her hand on her hip. I just rolled my eyes at her and went on to inspect the other tables.

"What has happened to you, huh?" She followed me to the other table.

"I've known your family for a while now and never did I think that you would turn into this much of a diva. In fact, I didn't even think you would want a graduation party well at least this big, I mean." She went on and on about how much I've changed.

"Look Ashley, I grew up. I realized what's important and what's not." I shook my head. I don't have time to listen to her lecture me on how much of a bitch I now am.

"Your boyfriend isn't important to you?" She asked and that was the icing on the cake. I stood, my back facing her as I tried to avoid the hot tears from spilling over. I tilted my head back, to get rid of the tears and turned back around to face her one last time.

"You'll never know what I went through. This is my life and this is how I want to live it." And with that, I left the room.

"Oh you look so beautiful!" Mom clapped her hands as I did a 360, holding out my dress. It was a purple sunflower dress and white wedges.

"Thanks, now let's go before we will be late for my own party." I shuffled out the door and into the backseat of the car. Dad drove and mom in the passenger.

"Time went by so fast, before you know it, it will be your wedding day." Mom said. Always being emotional, that one.

"Mom please. One milestone at a time please." I laughed.

"Okay, okay." She agreed.

We arrived to the Country Club and a nice young gentleman opened my door and held my hand as I got out of the car. Wow!

"Why thank you." I giggled.

"My pleasure." He winked at me as he opened the door.

"After you." He smiled.

"Don't get any ideas." Dad whispered into my ear as we walked in.

Everything looked perfect! What could possibly go wrong?

The guests arrived a little after two. I was dancing on the dance floor all by myself but I was having a good time. I waited until my friends arrived and that's where we steal a bottle of liquor and head to the basement. I need to let go and just live life like a normal teenaged girl. Who cares if I get wasted tonight? Not me!

I tipped the bartender a little something when my parents weren't around. He easily gave in and slid me a cocktail that could easily pass as a kiddy cocktail. I sipped away as if I wasn't doing anything wrong and then I spotted Colin walk in alone, fixing the buttons on his shirt. I immediately slammed the glass down on the bar and ran over to him, well more like into him.
