*****Charlie’s POV*****

I was quite taken aback by the stranger’s forwardness, but kept myself collected and politely removed my hand from his palm. Callum was a rather tall fellow, taller than me and Harry. He had blue eyes and messy straight hair of a light brown tint. His smile felt arrogant, as his ocean orbs pierced right through me, the curves of his lips surrounded by stubble. However, he seemed pretty friendly; I could picture us getting along with each other, especially since he’ll be a permanent asset to the farm. He wore a red plaid shirt unbuttoned almost halfway, exposing his muscular stature, and a pair of Levi’s with bulky work boots. So this is the guy my aunt and uncle hired…I’m not going to lie, he wasn’t bad looking. My aunt wasn’t kidding when she said he was Scottish, his foreign accent was extremely prominent when he introduced himself. Feeling pressured to say something; I quickly came up with a response to this encounter.

“Nice to uhh meet you.” I tried my hardest to say in a welcoming voice.

“Pleasure.” Was all he said in response, showing off his teeth in a smile. I then heard a grunt off from my side, it was Harry.

“Oh um, this is my friend Harry.” I said awkwardly.

“’Sup man,” Callum spoke, his eyes still gazing at me, rather than diverting his attention to Harry.

He grunted again in response, moving closer to me and putting his hand firmly around my waist. I looked up into his green eyes which were fixed on Callum. I was befuddled by his actions and wondered what got up his ass. He was acting strange, maybe the pain in his legs was getting to him.

Ignoring his oddness, I walked over by Aero to remove his saddle and other equipment, leaving the two boys behind to watch.

Unfortunately, my clumsiness once again comes to light as I knocked over a small bucket of peppermint treats. Groaning, I bent down to recover them and tried to think of something to say to break the silence in the barn.

“So… umm.. Callum, how long have you been around horses?” I asked awkwardly, my back still to both boys. There was no response from either of them for a minute, confused I then asked, “you guys okay?” with a chuckle.

“Oh yeah! Uhhh I’ve been around horses practically my whole life…” Callum finally said.

Satisfied that I finally received an answer, I stood back up and over to Aero. I caught a glimpse of Harry while doing so. He was leaned against the wooden wall, arms crossed, and a menacing glare upon his face.
