Jin's POV
I don't know where I'm going but I know that I'm going to find Soojung. The class has just ended so she won't be going anywhere far away yet.
I ran through the hall and searched everywhere for her. I looked left and right then panted. I panted then started running again.
I searched inside the gym, cafeteria, classroom and other places. She's nowhere to be seen. Just when I decided to go back, I saw her walking across me.
I immediately ran up to her. She looked at me. "What?" She asked.
"Where's her book?" I asked, panting.
"What? What book? What are you talking about?" She acted dumb but I can see through all of it.
"Return the blue notebook that you've been stepping on back to Hyerin. Right now." I demanded and she looked away from me.
She stifled a laugh. "Why would I? And why should I listen to you?" She insisted.
"You're the one at fault so you have to responsible." I told her and she shot me a glare.
"I'm not the one at fault. I thought that book was a piece of trash on the ground so I threw it away." She folded her arms.
"Are you serious? Then you can drop a golden necklace on the floor and someone threw it away in the trash bin thinking that it's a piece of trash as well." I spoke in monotone and she just looked down on the ground.
I ignored her and started running to the direction that she came from. I searched through a trash bin that is next to freshmen's door. Luckily, there are only some papers not the junk food wastes.
I kept searching and searching until I grabbed a thick object among the rest and lifted it up. I noticed that it's her book because 'Choi Hyerin' is written on it. I sighed and laid myself down on the floor.
After a few minutes, I put the trashes back into the trash bin and I stood up, carrying the notebook with me. Surprisingly, some papers fell out from the book and I sat down to pick it up.
I folded them out and started reading.
What is this? Why?
Why did she buy lots of cigarettes and white flowers? I kept looking at the papers one after another realizing that it's from the same shop.
Is she smoking? Class prep is smoking? It's bad if anyone found out about this. I quickly folded them and put them inside my backpack.
I started running while dialing Hyerin. She didn't answer. I kept calling and calling but the line was disconnected. I decided to call Haena and she picked up.
"Yeobuseyo?"
"Oh! Kim Seok Jin? What do you want from me at this hour? Don't tell me that-"
"Where's Hyerin?"
"Huh? Oh, Hyerin . . She just told me that she's going to the school's backyard for a bit."
"Okay, thanks."
I disconnected the call and ran out from the study building to the backyard. There's only silence and the evening air was so cold even though I'm wrapped in uniform.
I arrived at the school's backyard and heard sobbing. I walked slowly to see a girl with long hair - letting it lay evenly on her shoulders, was sitting against the building's wall with her face dug into her knees and another hand was holding a lit cigarette.
As I walked closer, I could feel the smoke bite my nose and I let out a cough. She woke up from her knees, facing me. Her eyes widened and lingered with tears.
