“Well…Jake…” I said but I got distracted by his eyes. They’re just too…I don’t know. I guess the sun makes his eyes look damn better. I just keep staring, Jake doing the same, I just got lost at his beautiful eyes, I never really stared at his eyes this long and this close that I never noticed the streaks of gold on his eyes, How the heck is that possible? His eyes are like storm with lightning flashing too. They’re like hypnotizing me to look at them and never look away.
I don’t how long it took me to realize I haven’t answered Jake’s question yet. Wow was I holding my breath too? I closed my eyes to break the contact, my breathing ragged, I felt his hand drop. With my eyes still closed, afraid to get lost to his eyes again, I turned to the horizon, the pretty sun already setting. The clouds looks amazing that you can’t even believe it’s real, it’s like one of those in DreamWorks. The sky has this orange-y color like it always does when it’s about to set with some streaks of purple and pink it’s just so pretty they look like cotton candy and the sun like a big ball of light making everything brighter. Like when you’re closer to it, it makes everything colored yellow, warm and happy. I smiled; the sky is like cotton candy and big ball of butter. I stared at it a little while longer, my arms wrapped around my knees.
I stole a glance to his direction. He’s looking at the sun set too, one of his arms resting on his knee. I turned to the view again, still not ready to look at him in the eye.
“Answerer me Liza, do you?” Jake said suddenly shifting position boring his eyes in me but I’m still looking ahead. Afraid I might get lost at the storm of his eyes again.
“I don’t really know Jake… It’s just…” I said, playing with my flower again. “Look I know you don’t like Marcus but he’s the only guy that’s been nice to me when I’m here at Charmond’s.” I said but I heard him sigh while I was talking about him so I look at him to see his reaction.
He just stared at me with a blank expression when he didn’t move a muscle I continued. “I really don’t know why you don’t like him,” I said look to his direction again, his face unreadable. “I mean he’s nice and friendly…” I said but I heard Jake say.
“You don’t know him…” He said under his breath.
I suddenly sat up straight. “And you think you do?” I asked in disbelief.
“Yes” Jake said in a matter-of-fact-tone but didn’t add anything. God he so annoys me now.
“How? Please explain to me!” I exclaimed. How can he keep asking me stuff but never even give me a damn clue about the stuff he knows? Talk about being a hypocrite.
But he just stared at me. “Do you wanna know why I was upset today Jake?” I said with a hurt smile in my face.
When he didn’t answer I continued. “It’s because I have to be rude to a guy, to my friend that had done nothing wrong. And I feel so bad about it. And do you know why I had too? It’s because somebody asked me not to trust him, somebody had to put me where I am now, somebody keeps controlling how I should act, even thought I myself can’t understand why…” I said my voice faltering
“Just trust me on this one Liza---” He said his face still unreadable, I snapped. Oh so now he ask me to actually trust him?!
“How? How can I trust you?” I asked my teeth clenched. “When you can’t even tell me why I can’t trust him?” I said it slowly and deliberately.
