Chapter 24: Failed Protection
YN's P.O.V
Frozen in my position, many thoughts arose in my head. This person who's leaving his tracks is just a footstep away from where I live, he's watching me...every step I take and every move I make. But how possibly could he be after me, I could just be a victim of his attacks just like Dylan. Feeling uncomfortable in my own home, I began looking around as if I expected to see someone standing behind me.
"Mom?" Skylar tapped my leg, shaking me from my eerie fantasy,
"Sky can you please go call Dad and Dylan?" I asked politely, she nodded before skipping away back into the house. Meanwhile, I began walking cautiously around the car, the only sounds I could hear were the clicking of my high heels on the brick floor and the tweeting of the morning birds as the usual. Frantically, a gush of wind blew across my neck making me jump in surprise; as paranoid as this may sound, it felt like a hand stroking my neck. Oddly enough from what I could see, the person did nothing to the car except smear it with a red liquid, of which I'm too frightened to find out what it is, and wrote the letter R.
"Dad look!" I heard Skylar shout before the sound of more footsteps stepping into crunchy, Fall leaves, I walked back round the car and looked at Justin in fear, he seemed stunned himself as he couldn't stop staring at the massive mark on the car.
"It's another R..." Justin finally spoke,
"No Justin! It's actually a K! Yes it's another R! What does that mean?!" I panicked.
"Woah, calm down babe, it's fine-"
"How is this fine Justin! Can't you see the signs, we are in danger!" I said.
"What danger could we be in? Huh? Exactly, there's no one anymore trying to get us, so stop being paranoid, it's probably some sick kid playing a joke," Justin said,
"Yes, of course. Cause kids these days run over pedestrians, cut their skin and vandalise Range Rovers! This isn't a kid playing a joke Jay!"
"Just try ignoring it, that's all we can do for now, in the meantime use my Ferrari and I'll get the Rover washed," he suggested throwing the keys into my grip.
"Sounds like a decent plan," I shrugged,
"WE'RE USING DAD'S FERRARI! WOO!" Skylar cheered before running to the garage door which had the Colbert, blue Ferrari.
"See. There's always a positive outcome," Justin smirked,
"Whatever, I'm still creeped out," I said looking around again.
"Don't be. Trust me. You're safe babe," he said kissing my lips before I pulled away to join Skylar. Getting into the sports car Skylar and I waved to the guys before making our way out, onto the surprisingly clear road, which is usually packed since it's a weekday.
Remembering to put the radio on for Skylar, we began to hear Adele "Hello" blast through the stereo. I noticed Skylar stare out the window with her big blue eye as she bobbed her head to the catchy beat. She's so precious. She even swung her legs slowly as she was too short for the car seat and she was so into the song. I can just easily see Skylar having interest in making her own music when she's older, hopefully just like her mother and father.
"Mom are we in trouble?" She began to focus on me, as she said what was going through her wild head of hers.
"No sweetie? Why would you think that?"
"Someone is out to hurt us, aren't they? That's why the mark on the car was there?" She explained with more wondering questions.
"Sweetie no one is out to hurt us, that's what Dad says anyway right?" I said as she meekly nodded, I managed to stroke her head and long blonde hair, "I'll never let anyone hurt you sweetie, okay? And if you think someone is going to just tell me, okay?" I reassured her before stopping the car in the drop off section of the elementary school.
