< Fall - Late September - Beginning of First Term >

Dan's P.O.V.

The new school year had finally started. After a year without Phil, I think I can finally say I'm over him. Although it feels strange not to be with him now, eagerly texting him about how excited I am about starting University, him replying that he doesn't think it's that big of a deal when I could tell he would be nervous too.

Before he left, we would talk about where we wanted to go, the new people we'd meet, how amazing it would be.

I walk up to the front desk to sign in and get my schedule. Finding my room along with my keys, I saw that my roommate had already signed in and had the initials, C.K. Not paying too much attention to that, I looked around the campus, trying to find the dorm circle. When I finally found it, I heaved my few bags up a flight of stairs to the second floor of rooms around the dorm circle.

Once I found my room, I was so out of breath from the intense exercise that once I unlocked the door, I took one look at the room before falling onto the bed. The off-cream painted brick walls weren't the prettiest thing to see in the world, so I didn't think much of my surroundings, completely forgetting that my roommate had also signed in and was in the room.

"Oh my god, no fuckin' way."

I look up to see Chris Kendall sitting cris-crossed on the bed opposite of mine, surprise written across his face.

"Well isn't this just fan-fucking-tastic," I say.

"Hey, come on Danny. Don't act like you're not glad to see me, give me a good ol' bro hug, because that's what straight friends do. Then we can about all of the boring shit we did over summer holiday."

I shrug and hug him. I sit down and get ready to hear a bunch of long rambling. "Guess who I found out goes here too?"

"Who?"

"PJ-god damn-Liguori. It was quite a pleasant surprise in my opinion," Chris answered.

"I thought he was an asshole - he cheated on you, dude."

"Well yes, there's no doubt about that... But arguably, he's very good in bed. And that is exactly what I need to start this term off right. Which reminds me, PJ told me there's a frat party tonight, you wanna go?" I shake my head.

"I don't think I'm ready for parties yet, so I'll pass."

Chris sighs and says, "Then how about a party at PJ's fraternity? It's Wednesday, crazy I know, party on a Wednesday, but I need someone to drag me back here after the party." He must have noticed me still unsure expression because he said, "You might meet someone, Dan. Another actual person to talk to. You might find yourself in a one night stand, or something better, someone to help you get over Phil. Just say yes."

"Well, because of your reassurance that I might get laid, I must laid," I answer, sarcasm dripping from every word.

"That's the spirit! By the way, I could go for something to eat right now... What about you?

"That's one way to end a conversation that's not even about food, Chris, but no, I have more important things to worry about than food," I say.

"What's more important than food?" He asked and looked as if he was genuinely confused.

"Besides classes starting soon, to finding my way around this place, to not procrastinating... I don't know."

"See... I gotcha there. Food is important."

"Yeah, yeah, I'm done talking about this so just go get your food and when is that party?"

"In a couple of hours. I'll be back before that but did you decide to come along?" He asked hopefully.

"No, I'm just taking a nap and I want to know when your coming back. Gosh, some people just jump to conclusions so fast..."

Chris picks a leather wallet from the bedside table and says, "Well that's just rude. Suit yourself," before walking out the door. Alone in my own thoughts, I decide to take a nap while I wait for Chris to come back.

"That party was great! Best I've been to in a while. The music was great, the booze was, well, stale but got the job done, and PJ, well he was just delightful."

"Did you really do something with him these early in the school year? It's the first day, you could've at least tried to be classy Chris."

"We didn't do anything, we mainly just talked, surprising enough. He was being awfully suggestive though."

"How?" I ask, rolling my eyes in the process.

"He said a few things, nothing too much, but I got the message. Now you can guess what I did there for yourself, but I can be classy Howell, just not when I'm partying." He raised his hands in the air and started swaying back and forth, apparently emphasizing how he is at parties.

"You know what? I'm (Josh ;) done with you right now," I say, falling back onto my bed.

"That's quite a shame, but your stuck with my until at least next semester." He shrugs, a smug look on his face.

"I think I'll survive, but for now, I'll block out your talking but trying to sleep again." I shut my eyes and pull the the duvet over my head only to hear Chris start talking again.

"I don't know if that's work, but your going to love the next party though, it'll be crazy. There'll be..."

I couldn't hear the rest because the sleep was working and I slowly drifted to sleep 'til I was out.
