Chap 14

"Mum this is my friend Oliver." He was glad his mum had sobered up today because they had decided to hang out at his place on a Friday. Oliver hadn't spent too much time lately with Eliza and had been spending a lot of his allowance on bus rides to see Andrew. He had become infatuated with him, and wanted to be around him even more, embarrassingly enough.

"Oh my gosh Andrew you finally have a friend!" And although her worse weren't the nicest sounding, she was genuinely excited that her son finally had companionship with someone.

"It's very nice to meet you Miss McEuan."

"Mum." Andrew said embarrassed. Oliver actually found it quite cute that his mum cared so much about him. Or at least that's how he saw it. And it reminded him of his own mum. Everything had begun to cram after she had died, but when his father married her sister, that when it all finally broke down. His anorexia started not too long after that. He didn't want to think about that now though, he wanted to focus on Andrew right now.

They headed to his room which looked as if a bomb had hit.

"Sorry everything's a bit messy."

"Yeah, sure, a bit." Oliver mumbled earnings him a light punch on the shoulder.

There was a guitar in the corner of the room that caught Oliver's eye as it looked unused.

"You play?"

"No my mum used to, that was before my dad started..." He gulped and looked like he was about to start crying just thinking about it. Andrew told Oliver about his father and how he was abusive. It must have been hard to grow up like that. Oliver thought his dad was difficult but he couldn't even fathom him hitting him one day.

"I know how to play." Oliver tried to change the subject.

"Play me something."

He went over to the corner and picked up the guitar. He sat on the bed and proceeded to tune it.

"My mum used to play me songs and she and I would sing along. She'd sometimes come on my room and play to get me to fall asleep." Andrew went on. This memory seemed softer and more peaceful to him.

"You know a team by Ed Sheeran right?"

"That's my favorite song."

Oliver began to play and even sang along. Eventually even Andrew joined. 'We're just under the upper hand, go mad for a couple gram...'

When they finish Oliver looked impressed.

"You play really well. I love that song. And your not so bad in vocals." Andrew tried to joke around.

"You're amazing." Oliver said, not a hint of humor in his voice.

"I mean it your voice is fantastic." Andrew blushed in response. He had never had anyone really praise him till he met Oliver. He seemed to be blushing a lot lately. He sat down on the bed and Oliver moved the guitar into the floor. His heart did that thing were it stuttered whenever Oliver was around.

"I'm not anything special."

"You are special." He moves in closer. This made his face go brighter. They were making intense eye contact when Andrew decided maybe now was the time. It was now or never. If this went wrong he could ruin the only friendship he's ever had.

He plucked up the courage. He put his hands on the side of Oliver's face, pulled him in till their noses were touching, waited for a few seconds, then kissed him.

Oliver kissed back. It was slow and hesitant but also filled with a lot of emotion. Oliver was the first to pull away.

They both looked confused for a moment until Oliver broke the silence.

"You kissed me"

"You kissed back."

"Yeah and you kissed me."

Now came the awkward silence rearing its ugly head again.

"So."

"So."

Andrew was the first to break the awkward silence.

"Wanna kiss again?"
