Girl Meets 'back together again'

5 ; Maya

It was a week and a half until Riley's birthday party and Maya had decided to arrive early so she could catch up with everyone. Maya was also excited to see the rest of the Matthews family. They were her second family, sometimes even her only family and she couldn't wait to see them. Maya and Shawn were still quite close and he was also going to attend Riley's party. Shawn was her fill in father. He was the first person she called when she got her job, and he was also the first she called when "open doors" was about to be published. She dearly loved him and sometimes can't think of a time when he wasn't around.
Maya was expecting Kyle to arrive anytime now, she knew he would show up somewhat late so she told him to come half an hour before she wanted to leave. Maya suddenly heard footsteps and then the door flys open.
"Hey babe, ready to go?" Kyle asks not paying much attention to anything.
"yeah let me grab my coat, it going to be freezing in New York!" She laughed. Kyle wasn't amused and just grabbed her suit case and walked out to the car. Maya made her way out to Kyle's car and opened the door. Before she could get into the car Kyle opened his mouth.
"Really your wearing that?" He giggled. "I thought you liked these people." Maya looked down at her outfit, she was wearing some boyfriend cut jeans, tennis shoes, and a plain long sleeved t-shirt. there was nothing terrible about it.
"I love these people." Maya sighed and Kyle drove to the airport.

The plane ride was terrible. Kyle complained the whole way there. First his chair was uncomfortable, he forgot to pack a tooth brush, then there was a line for the bathroom, and the once again his chair was uncomfortable. Maya didn't like traveling with Kyle much. When the first started dating he was so kind. He complemented her, he would ask for her opinion on things and then one day he changed. He became unfriendly and cold. He never hit her or anything but it had come close a couple times. Sadly she thought she loved him. She loved the guy she first met.
After a long 5 hour flight Maya had managed to get no sleep. Once she left the plane she went to grab her and Kyle's bags while Kyle went to the bathroom. Suddenly she spotted a familiar face. It was Josh. Riley's uncle. Also Maya's first love, we'll sort of. They never dated but she always loved the idea.

Maya swiftly walked over to him "Hey! Josh!" Maya squeaks. Josh quickly turned with a large smile.
"Oh my god! Maya!" Josh grabs Maya and pulls her in for a massive hug. It had been a while since Maya had hug someone so warm. "What are you doing here?"
"Riley's party is in a couple of weeks, and I thought I would come early. Catch up with everyone." Maya was still hugging Josh. She couldn't stop. But then something was pulling her off him.
"What the hell!" Kyle yells. His face is angry, he was obviously surprised that Maya was hugging someone. especially a boy. But Josh was lest of a boy and more of a man.
"Kyle calm down." Maya said in a quite tone.
"No, i did not fly all this way so you could flirt with other guys!" Josh pushed himself closer to Kyle.
"Hey look man, I'm just an old friend of Maya's" Josh said with a smile.
"Yeah I'm sure you are." said Kyle and then he turned to Maya. "Look I've got my bag. Im going to go I'll text you which hotel I'm at." He looked at her with a harsh look.
"What. that makes no sense." Maya protested
"I don't care what you think Maya" Before Maya could open her mouth to speak Kyle was already walking away. Maya toke a breath and slowly turned toward Josh.
"I'm sorry about that." She could tell her face was a bit red but she couldn't tell how red. Josh seemed flustered.
"Is that your boyfriend?" he asked. Now Maya was completely red.
"Well yes." She couldn't think straight. "Kyle is well..." she paused "He has a bit of a temper" Maya sighed.
"Maya. He is terrible." Josh looked serious.
"Look, Josh its complicated. I don't want to be judged right now on my life choices." She sounded angry and she was. How dare Josh tell her that he thought her boyfriend was terrible.
"I'm sorry Maya, but if he is always like that I can't imagine what he's like when he is mad" Josh was confident in what he said and you could tell.
"Look I've got to collect my bags. I'll see you around." and Maya walked away.
what a horrible way to start this trip.
