It's been about a month since I met Sans and Papyrus. There's not much for me to do above ground, so I spend most of my time underground with the skelebros. I think of them as my best friends, though I don't know for sure if they see me the same way. They don't seem to hate me though so...that's good I guess.
I'm beginning to become friends with Frisk too, which is absolutely amazing because they're considered a celebrity among monsters and humans. Then again, they're super nice to everyone...so I guess being friends with them doesn't make me that special. The thought made me frown as I walked through the Snowdin street. A snowball smacking me in the face interrupted my thoughts and nearly knocked me over. I spun around and faced my wide-smiled attacker.
"sup?" I kicked a little snow at him. "aw c'mon, it seemed like a good way to get your attention."
"You could've just walked over to me." I said, walking with him now.
"yeah but that wouldn't be as fun, plus I'd have to walk all the way over to you, and that'd just be a waist of my time." It took me way too long to realize that was a pun. I didn't realize until I glanced over at him and saw he was winking.
"OH whoops." I giggled, and Sans finally opened his other eye. He chuckled a little, even though he'd been winking for like a whole minute.
We walked into Grillby's and took our usual seats at the bar. Grillby walked up to us and my cold nose immediately became warmer.
"the usual Grillby, and a order of French fries for the lady." As Grillby went into the kitchen to go prepare the food, I sighed from the disappearing warmth. Sans turned to me with a puzzled look. "what? did you not want fries?"
"No it's not that, I'm sad because Grillby left." Sans's smile twitched a little.
"you..like Grillby now? enough to miss him when he leaves for what, five minutes?" His sudden tone surprised me and made me put up my hands defensively.
"No no no, he's just warm Sans. He's literally made of fire and he warms my nose." Sans relaxed a little bit, and at that moment Grillby came back with our food. I guess he overheard our conversation because he pointed a flaming finger close to my nose until I felt it get red. He adjusted his glasses then went back to tend to the other customers. I turned back to Sans who seemed a bit stressed out again. Is he being protective of me or...maybe he...nahhh, he wouldn't ever like me, right?
"are you sure you don't like him? Grillby is a pretty hot dude and..."
"Sans."
"...what?"
"If I liked him like that I'd be acting ridiculous around him. Whenever I have a crush on someone it's extremely obvious." Sans looked down at his plate for a moment, and then turned to me with his smile curved into a smirk.
"So what gives it away?" He asks. I swallowed a fry before answering.
"Well uh...it's usually really hard to act calm around them, and I'll end up saying really dumb things. I end up blushing a lot too." Sans laid his head in his left hand and gazed at me, and I was surprised when I felt my own cheeks get warm. I knew it wasn't from Grillby either, because he was standing by some fish guy behind Sans.
"is that it?" Sans asks, still smirking. I nodded, and shoved another french fry in my mouth. "You're pretty cute when you blush, doll." I nearly choked on the fry. I turned to him with wide eyes, which made a light blue spread across his face and made him turn away.
"T-thanks but...I can't help but notice that you're blushing too?? How is that possible??" I sounded like an idiot right now.
"i dunno how it works, and I'm too lazy to ever find out." I stared at the glowing blue across his cheeks, and saw it get slightly darker.
"You know...yo-you're pretty cute when you blush too." I mumbled, which made him turn to face me again. We just stared at each other's blushing faces for a moment, before I eventually turned my head away in embarrassment, which made him chuckle.
"heh..we're being kinda weird aren't we? we should probably get going now, Papyrus is probably home from Undyne's by now." I smiled and nodded. We both stood up and headed to the door after Sans told Grillby to put it on his tab. We easily resumed normal conversation as we walked home. I assumed he'd forgotten the whole thing at Grillby's even happened until we got to the front door.
"Well, I should probably sleep in my own apartment above ground tonight, I've slept here three nights in a row now." Sans silently nodded.
"alright, I guess I'll see you tomorrow then. oh, and one more thing." He leaned in close to my ear, which made me tense up. " i'm hoping to find more ways to make you blush tomorrow babe~" he whispered. He stood back again, winked, and went inside the house without another word. With a completely red face, I made my way to the elevators, still not fully comprehending what just happened.
