"Saaaaans!" I heard Papyrus yell from downstairs. "Where is it?!" I knew what he was looking for; his scarf. I also knew where it was; around my neck. I gigged into it as I heard Papyrus yell some more. I didn't hear any response from Sans, so chances are he's asleep on the couch. I breathed in the scent of the scarf; it had an odd faint scent which I'm guessing is the smell of bones, along with the nice scent of pine. I stopped when I noticed the sudden silence. I listened for a moment, but all I could hear is ringing in my ears from the quiet. Then I heard the sound of running on the stairs, and it was getting close. I jumped up from my spot on Papyrus's bed, dropped to the ground, then crawled quickly underneath his bed. As soon as I turned myself around to look out from underneath the bed, Papyrus burst into the room.
He stood at the door for a moment, then walked slowly inside. I watched his red boots move until they stopped right in front of me. I held my breath. Finally, after what seemed like an eternity, Papyrus sighed.
"Darn it, where on earth is it?" He groaned. Then he walked out of the room in a much faster pace then when he walked in. As soon as he shut the door I let out a rather loud gasp since I could breathe again. But then Papyrus burst in the room again. "Aha! Nyeh heh heh, I knew it!" He shouted. Before I could do anything he ran over to where I was again, and got down on the floor. He looked me in the eyes and grinned, and I tried to pout but ended up smiling too. He grabbed my arms and pulled me from under the bed, then stood up and held me bridal style. "That's mine." He said quietly, and poked his scarf.
"I know." I said as I crossed my arms. He tugged on the scarf lightly and I grabbed it and covered my face with it.
"(Y/n) give it back." I shook my head. I heard him let out a frustrated sigh, which made me giggle. I felt him start walking. I peeked out from over the scarf and saw as we went out of the room, down the stairs, and out the front door.
"Where are we going?" I asked. But he didn't answer, he only laughed mischievously. I didn't try to ask again or protest, instead I just buried my head back in the scarf and closed my eyes.
I woke up sweating, and I immediately pulled the scarf from over my head. I was blinded by the sudden light, but once I could see again I saw that I was in Hotland. Papyrus was still holding me and walking. He looked down at me and grinned.
"Nyeh heh heh! My plan is working! We've only been in Hotland for a minute and you're already sweating, you'll have to give me my scarf back now!" I narrowed my eyes at him, and wiped some sweat from my forehead.
"Well, I probably would've given your scarf back if you haven't said that." I replied. "But now I'm just more determined to keep the scarf." Papyrus's smile turned downwards, and he grinded his teeth together.
"Nooooo." He whined and stomped his feet. He gently set me down on my feet and glared at me. "Just give me my scarf baaaaack." I smiled and shook my head.
"It's gonna take more than begging and a little heat to make me give this up." Papyrus crossed his arms and glared at me, but then smiled.
"Um...Even though I really want my scarf back, I think it looks really cute on you." My smile dropped and heat immediately rushed to my cheeks. The fact that I was already sweating hot made it worse.
"Thanks Papy..." I mumbled as I fanned my face with my hand. Papyrus suddenly became excited and gasped.
"Huma- I mean (y/n), did my compliment make you even warmer??" He said in a voice barley bellow a shout. I just looked down at my feet; and I felt my blush grow deeper. I heard him step closer, and he tipped my head up with his hand to make me look at him. He gazed into my eyes, and I couldn't help but stare back. I didn't realize that my mouth was half open until my tongue felt really dry. I moved slightly away from him to cough.
"C-can we get so-some water?" I stutterered.
"Of course, there's a place to get water just over t-" Papyrus stopped suddenly, and a wide grin spread over his face.
"What?"
"We'll go get water, if you give me my scarf." I gasped, and then coughed again.
"That's not fair!" I protested.
"It is completely fair, nyeh heh."
"I'll just get the water myself then." I started to walk past him, but he stepped in front of me to block my path. I tried to run around and past him, but he caught me with his arm, then slung me over his shoulder.
"How about we go deeper into Hotland instead?" He asked. I could tell he had a smug look on his face.
"No no no!" I whined, and pounded my fists on his back. He just laughed and started to walk. I had almost decided to just give up and give him his scarf back when I came up with a plan. I struggled a little bit more, then made my body go completely limp. After about a minute Papyrus stopped walking and let out a small gasp. He held me out in front of him, and I kept my eyes closed and stayed limp.
"(Y/n)?" He called. I said nothing. He called my name again and shook me lightly. I remained silent. "Oh no oh no." He mumbled, and he put me over his shoulder again before he broke into a run. Once he got to the entrance of Hotland where the water cooler was, I wriggled out of his grasp and ran towards it. He stood where he was in shock while I grabbed a paper cup and filled it with cold water. After drinking three whole cups, I walked back over to Papyrus. I stood in front of him and smirked, then threw my empty paper cup in his face.
"Ha." Was all I said. He still wouldn't move or speak. I waved my hand in front of his face, and he finally started moving again.
"Are...you....a..ghost?" He said slowly. I burst into laughter. While I was laughing Papyrus poked my belly, which made me laugh even more.
"Ok, I guess you're not a ghost..." He mumbled, and then started laughing nervously. It was then when I realized how worried and scared I must've made him, and I pulled him down into a tight hug.
"Oh Papyrus...I'm sorry. That was not cool of me." I felt his arms wrap around me, and we stood like this for a while. When we finally pulled away I felt my neck get much cooler suddenly. I reached up and felt for the scarf, but only felt my skin. I looked up and saw Papyrus triumphantly waving his scarf in the air.
"Nyeh heh heh! No one tricks the great Papyrus!" I stared at Papyrus as he hopped happily around, and accepted my defeat.
--Two days after this thing happened--
As soon as I stepped inside the Skeleton household, a present was shoved in my face. I stumbled backwards a bit, then lowered the gift in my hands to reveal a smiling Papyrus.
"A present?" I asked.
"Yeah! Isn't this a normal thing for lovers? To exchange gifts even when there isn't a special occasion?" I blushed and turned away. I sometimes forgot that we're officially dating now, but it's always a nice thing to suddenly remember. I smiled up at him, then we went to sit on the couch. I opened the gift and gasped at the thing I pulled out of it.
"Papyrus! This is-"
"Your very own scarf!" He finished for me. It was just like his scarf; it was just as soft and it even smelled like him. The only difference was that it was a lighter color, and was closer to pink than red. I wrapped it around my neck immediately, then grinned widely at Papyrus.
"Thank you sooo much Papyrus." I said, and then pulled him down by his scarf into a kiss. When I pulled away his face was almost as red as his scarf.
"I'm...g-glad you like it." He stuttered. I nodded then hugged him tightly. He slowly leant back so that we were laying comfortably in an embrace on the couch, and this is where we stayed for the remainder of the evening.
