Growing Up A Witch

I sat in the living room with my mother and father just sitting.. There wasn't much to say or do. Since I've returned I've noticed changes in my parents.. They're so.. Distant and sad? It sucks seeing them like this. "So.. You guys want to do something?" I asked out of the blue "hmm? Like what?" Father asked faking a smile "umm.. Take a walk, perhaps?" I suggested while shrugging and kicking my feet "I don't think so honey.. It's actually getting late, why don't you go on to bed?" My eyes scrunched together a bit surprised at mums demanding tone "but.. I'm not tired" I lied, I was a bit tired but I'd like to talk to my mum and dad more than just sleep. "Darling, just listen to your mother and go to bed" dads voice was gentle but it had a hint of urgency in it.. Why won't they tell me anything?! I'm their daughter! I'm not five anymore, I deserve to know! But seeing as it would be pointless to argue, I drug my feet out of the room and up the stairs to my room.

I sat thinking about what I should do, I'm still not going to go to bed. I looked over to Nibbles who was looking out its cage "you want out?" As if she understood me Nibbles screeched "hmm.. Okay but don't you dare make a mess of my room! Understand?" She screeched once more while biting the cage "I swear you're so troublesome" before I could reach the latch of the cage there was a scratch at my window "what the?" I went to investigate by opening the window only to reveal Draco's owl "pfft. Why's he writing me? He should be writing Pug-face" yes, I'm a jealous hobbit.. Deal with it. I let the owl in and took the letter from its foot. I wonder what he's got to say?

Dear Melanie,
How are you? I know we're nearing our last week of break and we haven't exchanged letters, who knew you could do without my presence this whole time? I'm impressed. Anyways, I was wondering.. Well actually my mother was wondering if you'd like to go school supply shopping with my family and myself soon? If not it's fine, it's not like it's a big deal or anything. Well, I expect to hear from you soon so get writing.

Ugh. The way he is.. Geez. But aside from is astonishing arrogance, he invited me to go school supply shopping with him! I need to ask my parents right away!

I ran out of my room and down stairs to the living area where I had left my parents "mum! Dad!" I ran into the room "what? Honey, I thought you went to bed?!" Mother asked kinda mad "well.. I did tell you I wasn't tired! But, I got a letter from Draco" father made his typical 'overly protective father face' and mom shrugged "that's normal" I nodded and scoffed "yeah! But he wants me to get school supplies with him! Can I? It'll be chaperoned by his mum and dad, please! Pretty please!" I begged like a child. Mother sighed "fine. Just remember to get everything" I nodded and ran back to my room to write him back.

Dearest Draco,
I'm afraid I haven't been faring well without your snide remarks and snide comments. Just kidding! I'm perfectly fine without you! Geez, I don't rely on you for everything. My parents said I could accompany you to get school supplies. But if I may ask, why not take Pansy? I mean she is your girlfriend.. Shouldn't you be taking her as a.. Date type thing? Ehh, whatever. I don't really care. I'm bored out of my mind Draco! My parents are literally doing nothing! It's extremely odd if you ask me. Oh well. I'll see you on shopping day!

There! "Come here Nibbles! You can play with Draco's owl later" Nibbles made a sad kind of noise "aww.. Don't give me that whine Nibs.. Why don't you guys fly to Draco's together? Would that make you feel better?" They both hopped around happily "good! But! I warn you, this needs to get there quickly.. Understood?" Nibbles screeched as I tied the letter to its foot "you can take all the time you need coming back, okay? So feel free to play a little more" they happily screeched as they made their way out of my room. Silly birds..
