Again, it was a new day and the ending to this school year. I had became friends with Draco a while ago and I still strongly believe it's the best decision I've made yet. He's still sometimes a bit mean but as long as I get to see his playful side too then.. I don't mind too much.

As I left my dorm room I walked down to the common room "Ahh! There you are! You kept us waiting" Draco said sliding off the couch "sorry.. I'm extremely tired" he sighed "give me your books then" huh? I looked at him with a brow up "hurry up!" I handed them over to him "Crabbe! You'll carry her stuff now, I take that you don't have a problem with that right?" Malfoy asked as the boy shook his head furiously. Crabbe and Goyle weren't that bad.. Though they did constantly steal food, they were loyal and backed you up whenever someone started some trouble with me. To this day I still don't know what made Draco want to be my friend but I'm very grateful.

I walked into Snapes class and took my seat next to Draco, I now tried to avoid the golden trio at any costs.. Just because I'm hanging out with Draco doesn't mean I want to torture them. "Hey!" I turned to Seamus Finnegan calling out to me "hmm?" His devilish eyes held "when'd you start dating Malfoy?" He giggled along with some jealous girls rolling their eyes and scoffing "I'm not. We're just really good friends" I defended but Draco turned to him glaring.

When it came to dinner I sat in my normal spot beside Draco. I wasn't all that hungry so I absent mindedly twirled my Silver ring with the green emerald around my finger "you're still wearing that?" Draco asked pointing to the same finger it stays on everyday "of course! It's truly beautiful, and I'd say it matches quite well" the ring became my most prized possession.. I'd imagine certain scenarios where the person who gifted it to me would finally tell me who they are.. I'm still pretty caught up in wanting to thank them. "I suppose so" he mumbled while shoving a fork full of food in his mouth. "Are you already packed?" Crabbe asked me "no.. I was kind of waiting last minute. But it doesn't take long" his eyes widened "it takes me forever!" I stifled a laugh "I use magic to do it.. It's not that hard" he sighed "you have to write it down for me! I can never remember" I nodded and wrote it down.

After finishing up we left the dinner hall together "Melanie! Melanie wait!" I turned to see who was calling for me, it was Hermione "what do you want?" I asked more harshly then intended "I just wanted to say I'm sorry.. As well as the rest of us. We didn't want to leave the house on a bad note" Draco glared at Hermione "well.. Thank you for apologizing, you're all forgiven" Draco looked upset over me forgiving them "thanks! We'll see you next year!" I gave her a small hug and she ran off "why'd you forgive the filthy little mudblood?! You'll still be a fourth wheel" I sighed and shrugged "I said I'd forgive them, not that I'd hang out with them all the time. Quite honestly, I like the way things are now" Draco had a small amount of shock etched into his face but immediately went back to his 'better than everyone' face "of course you would, it means you get to hang around me" i playfully swatted his arm "idiot" it was so nice that I could actually mess around with Malfoy like this.. The beginning of the year he was out of my reach.. He was my bully for crying out loud! But, something changed.. I don't know what that change was but whatever it was I'm so glad it happened. Though Draco could seem like a huge arse, he was still a good friend.

Finally, it was time to grab our suitcases and go home. I sat on the train beside Draco in one seat and then Crabbe and Goyle on the other side "so.. What's your plans for the vacation?" Draco shrugged "haven't really got any" i understand that! I'll probably be in my room reading or whatever. "We'll write to you Melanie! Isn't that right Crabbe?" Goyle stated "yeah! Sure" I smiled "thanks! I'll write you too" Draco looked as if he wanted to say something "you okay?" I asked, knowing he probably wouldn't tell me anyways "it's nothing.." Exactly. I shrugged it off until we were off on the train station "well.. I guess this is goodbye for now.." I stood up with the rest of them. I couldn't help but feel sad about leaving my friends.. I felt tears begin to swell up in my eyes "I'll miss you guys!" I said shouting and hugging Crabbe then turning to Goyle and hugging him, when it came to Malfoy I didn't really know if I could hug him.. I didn't want to leave this year off with him being mad at me "do I not get a hug?" I smiled at Malfoy's question and hugged him tightly "I'll miss you the most" I whispered so Crabbe and Goyle wouldn't hear.. I don't want their feelings hurt.

I made my way off the train and began searching for my parents "Mummy! Daddy!" I shouted seeing their smiling faces. I ran to embrace them in a strong hug "Mel! Welcome back, darling!" Mom shouted squeezing me into one her notorious hugs "I've missed you!" Father smiled back to me "we've missed you too!" I couldn't help but feel eyes boring into my back, I turned to see Draco staring happily at me. I waved a small 'goodbye' to him and took my leave with my parents. I couldn't wait to tell them all about Hogwarts!
