Cami
Boss bent down, his breath tickling my skin. "You know what you need to do. Do it now and fast."
I nodded solemnly. It was bizarre how I felt at this moment. I wasn't feeling dread or guilt, but, verily, relish that I was attaining the deal I'd kept with Mr. Kennecott. My eyes flickered at Zed, who now stood in the middle of the room, along with his other family members. Well, girlfriend and brother-in-laws - except, he would never become one, because his life was coming to an end and he didn't know it. It would be a timeless death - an honorable death, one that would never be forgotten, especially by Shauna.
I winked at Zed, feeling his heartbeat rise to a fast rate with my eye contact. Shauna hadn't noticed that I was seducing him, though she did see that her boyfriend was staring at me in a greedy way. Poor Shauna: always so liable.
He licked his lips as he stared at my body with intensity and if I didn't hold this power, then I'd already be running to Nat, crying in his arms, because of the way he was glaring at me.
I sucked in a shaky breath, whilst walking towards the pair. Should I do it classy and just press my lips on his? Or should I go slow and make him kiss me? Whatever worked for me, I thought. But maybe it was best if I let him make the move. Then, after I killed him, I wouldn't be to blame because I'd say it was him and I wanted nothing to do with him. It was a good plan.
I just had to think about Nat as I did it.
I touched his cheek once we were on our own. I had made an excuse that I needed to use the toilet and Zed was accompanying me, because I didn't know where they were. My smile was contagious - that was the reason he was grinning like a Cheshire cat. My head throbbed from my new power - my first time really using it - and my eyes felt like sparklers. But whatever I was doing, it was definitely working on him. He was attached to me, his eyes, his body glued towards my direction.
"Hey, Zed," I finally spoke.
He moved his lips, but nothing came out at first. And then, "Cami," was the one word he had to say. Truthfully, I was glad that he saw me as me, because I was getting worried that using this power changed your facial appearances when you used it on someone. So here I was, looking like Cami, but now, nothing like her.
I wasn't even sure if Nat was going to still love this new side of me. Oh, I was terrified. I gave a simple nod to him. "Yes." I caressed his cheek, sending an adrenalin zing through his body - I seemed to feel it too. I leant in really close, my breath tickling his skin, the thin hairs on the back of his neck standing upright. "What do you want from me?"
Now his eyes were blank and looked as if he were wearing contacts. He shook his head coyly. "I...I don't know what I want." A frown appeared on his face, which sunk my heart just a little, because he shouldn't be hesitating when answering me. "I want you, but I know it's wrong. It's like" - he paused - "that's right! Shauna! Oh, God, where is she?"
I tugged on his shoulders gently, catching his eye. "Your Shauna is safe. She's with her dad and brothers. All you want is a kiss."
"Shauna's okay. I desperately want a kiss." His voice was monotone and I didn't remember telling him that he 'desperately' wanted to kiss me, but if that was better, then so be it.
I nodded again. "Go on, Zed, I promise I won't say anything."
He shook his head, and at first I thought he was deflecting my command, but then he spoke, "you promise you won't say anything," and all of the sudden anger and terror rushed out of me like a flowing river stream.
