Gil and Al talked to each other for a couple minutes, and then Gil left Al to watch you while he picked up some supplies from the store. Al told you that he was going to teach you (with the help of some others) to read, write, and sign so that you wouldn't need a translator just to talk with Gil. He also explained that everything Gil had written on the chalk board was called The Alphabet and it was what all words were made of. He gave you a piece of chalk and had you rewrite it at the bottom of the board.
When you were finishing up, Kuro, Luciano, and Lutz walked in and said that Gil told them to meet him there after their meeting. Luciano went up to the board, as Kuro and Lutz sat at the table.
"Did you do this?"
"Sì!"
He didn't say anything else and went over to sit with the others. You decided to wait for Gil to get back by putting letters together and asking Al if they were words. So far you made lots of things that weren't words, like 'tgyjo' and 'xxxxxx'. You stopped when Gil walked in. He was carrying a couple bags of supplies and you walked over to see what was in them. There were pencils, paper, erasers, and some other things that you didn't know the names of.
When you were searching the bags, Gil was explaining to the others that he needed them to help teach you. They agreed (grudgingly) and started picking what subjects they'd work on. Al had already picked Language and Literature before they arrived, so Luciano picked Art and Cooking, Lutz took Gym, Kuro picked Math, and Gil would start on History once you knew how to read. You'd spend a couple hours a day with one or two of them to learn, with Al being the most often.
Your first question was why Flavio wasn't helping, and Luciano answered, saying that he probably couldn't teach you more than sewing and what matches what. Your second was what the thing with the buttons was. It was a calculator.
Once everyone knew what they'd be doing, they left you with Gil and Al. Gil sat next to you and Al began explaining how to say each letter. He also showed you a video for the alphabet song to help you remember it better. It was really colourful and it was sung by children. After almost an hour, he decided to let you practice on paper while he talked with Gil. You thought it'd be more fun to turn letters into drawings instead of actually writing.
