*Third person point of view*
You sat in the back seat of a car, awaiting your mother's return. She had said that she was just going to use the bathroom but she hasn't come back in, what you guessed was, about two hours. Still, you sat there hoping that she'd come back soon so that you could cool down. It was the middle of Summer and the car was getting really hot.
You waited for another half hour before, being unable to bare the heat any longer, you unlocked the car door and hopped out.
*Time skip*
You found yourself in an alleyway after walking the streets of New York aimlessly for the past couple hours. You were sitting with your knees to your chest as you listened to the quiet whining sounds that your stomach was making. You were starving. You hadn't eaten breakfast that morning since you were asleep until around one in the afternoon; around when your mom stopped to use the bathroom.
You knew that without money, buying food was not an option. Your eyes wandered over to the sidewalk a few yards away. People were walking by, ignoring your presence.
You zoned out, staring at the crowded streets, not noticing the person coming towards you...
Ooh, cliff hanger! I'm sorry if you expected a real chapter at first...I just needed to get this part written before I actually started on the story.
