Part 18: Yes, No, No, Yes

When you got back to Al's house, it was almost 8 o'clock. He had been texting someone since he stopped the car and you were getting annoyed at all the dinging that you heard. Eventually you heard a knock at the door and ran to get it before Al even got down the steps.

"Hello? Liz!"

"Hey, (Y/n)! Where's Al?"

"Upstairs. Wait, he's coming down."

"Well, can I come in?"

"Oh, yeah."

"Hey, Liz, you ready?"

"I-" Her voice went down to a whisper. " I thought you were going to put (Y/n) to bed first."

"She can do that herself, can't you, (Y/n)?"

"Yeah."

"If me and Liz go out for a few hours, will you be in bed by then?"

"Sure."

"See, she can handle herself."

"She's four years old!"

"Flavio says I'm three!"

"That makes it worse to leave her alone! Does Matt know where you live?"

"Well, yeah, but how would he know that she's here?"

"Fine! Just get your stuff, I don't care anymore."

"Fine!"

They don't get along, do they?

You went back over to the living room and started playing with the dogs again.

Al and Liz walked in and tiptoed upstairs when they saw you laying on the couch sleeping. They got upstairs and Liz put down the toys she grabbed while Al went to get changed. She started sorting out which ones she would give to you and which had blood on them. When Al came back, he grabbed the clean ones and put them in your room while Liz got her stuff together so she could leave.

"Going so soon?"

"I don't even know why I told her I'd get those for her."

"Because she's a kid and you can't say no to something with eyes that big."

"Well I should learn."

"C'mon, what'd she ever do to you?"

"This for one. Being a country only gets you so far, you know."

"It's not that bad, and, hey, you got to shoot someone! How long has it been since you did that?"

"About 50 years," She grabbed her bag and stood up. "I better go. Wouldn't want (Y/n) to wake up and see me like this."

"Yeah, I'll tell her you said 'Goodnight'."

"No, tell her the toys were from me."

"Fine, go."

"Myeh."

When you woke up the next morning, you were in Al's bed. You got up and found Alfie outside the door. He stood up when he saw you coming and you grabbed onto his fur as you went to find Al. You found him in the kitchen eating an apple, talking to someone on the phone. You said his name and he made a choking sound. He coughed a few times before telling the other person he'd call them back.

"What are you, a ninja?"

"I think I'm a human."

"You're not a morning person, are you?"

"I don't know."

"Neither am I, but it's noon, I was going to go get you after that phone call."

"Who were you talking to?" You let go of Alfie and sat in one of the kitchen chairs.

"My brother Matt. He called me about something that happened to his car and was asking if it was me."

"Was it you?"

"I don't even know where he lives anymore."

"So no?"

"Yeah, no."

"Yeah?"

"No."

"No?"

"Yeah."

"Yes?"

"Stop that! I didn't wreck his car."

"Okay."
