They sat down at the edge of a park and opened the transition.
"Listen closely Zaini. Either you hand back the moon stone or we take it back using any way we know how. It's okay to do what you're doing and to be unsure of the future but you're affecting everyone. Nothing can be done without the moon stone. You need to give it back. More transitions will follow."
It ended and they looked at each other.
"That was rather... pleasant."
"In the oddest stupidest way." He puffed his chest out and threw the ball at a tree, both burst into flames, "Stupid nature, why humans think it's important is beyond me."
Zaini wasn't listening. She was thinking of ways she could give them back the moon stone without any trouble- and how peaceful and nice they sounded in the transmission. Not like them.
"What did you say?"
"Oh, don't listen to your elders do you? Shame. Let's go. I said I wanted to get away from all this nature stuff- makes me sick." He led the way to a dark bar, "Ah, my type of establishment."
Zaini sighed and followed him into the bar.

Peter quickly headed to all the places he thought she might be and yet, no luck in finding her. Just as he was loosing hope, he remembered something she had given him- her pod number. It was like a phone number but different because the phone was actually in her mind and who was calling was projected onto her eyes so she could see and choose to respond if she felt like it. The Guardians didn't like to use it much but it was helpful if any of the people that they were helping needed to call. He dialed and it rang- once, twice, three times... "Hello?"
"Ladia!?"
"Peter? Why are you calling me? Are you okay? What's going on?"
"I'm fine." He laughed relieved, "I've been looking for you everywhere."
"Really? Why would you do that?" She asked smugly, she knew why- or at least had a thought of why- he had called
Because I care. "Because I wanted to see if you got rid of that stone yet."
"Oh." She seemed a little shocked at his response, " Why do you want to know that?"
"I think it's trouble and I think you need to come back to my place now so you can finish what you started and just-" His voice cracked, "just Ladia, please give it up. This is a loosing battle. You'll never win. So-"
"So, let me guess- you want me to quit while I'm ahead? Is that it? Finish my job of fixing your fucked up life and then 'go into retirement' like everyone else?! There is no retirement Peter! There is none! They kill you!" She screamed, "Once you get up there and finish your last job- once you retire- they kill you and feed you to- to him!"
The other end was silent.
"Peter?" Zaini choked out
"I'm here." His voice sounded strained
"I'm sorry Peter but I can't end this like you want me to."
"I know. But I can't help you. I don't want any part of this."
"Then I'm on my own."
"Okay."
"Peter?"
"Yes?"
"Lose this number, understood?"
"Ladia, I-"
"Lose it."
She ended the call and Peter forced back a sob, leaning back against the side of a building. He had lost her. He had lost himself. And worse of all, she was going on a suicide mission.
He did as she asked and burned the number she gave him, but when it came from deleting it from his phone, he couldn't do it.
-------------------------------------------
Zaini quickly walked out of the bar, the Leader did not follow her. He could care less of where she went or what she did. As long as she still had the moonstone.
She walked down a path that was in the park where they had watched the transmission, quietly admiring the intricate gardening that the owners of the park had instilled to its beds of flowers, bushes, trees, and other plants. A small greenhouse was hidden by a large weeping willow and a bench rested its old rickety self in its shade. Zania made her way to the greenhouse and quietly opened the doors. It was abandoned but rather well kept. Strolling through the rows upon rows of exotic plants, she admired the simplicity and beauty of them. Rarely was she able to stop and 'smell the roses'.
"Can I help you?" A small voice can from one of the corners of the green house
Zaini walked towards the voice and turned to corner to be face-to-face with a small short old lady, "Pardon?"
"Would you like to buy something miss?"
"Oh, no. I don't think so. I was just admiring your plants."
"Thank you. Do you mind me asking if you're okay?"
"No not really, I mean I have this whole thing where I stole something from some important people who are trying to kill me. Oh and my friend and I got into a huge fight- I thought he was going to apologize and say he cares but he didn't."
"Oh." The lady put down the garden hose and sprayer abruptly, "Oh indeed." She turned quickly and tried to cut Zaini on the arm with a rather sharp garden tool
"What the-!?" She jumped back, having just missing getting cut by it, "Why are you trying to injure me!?"
"By order of the Elders, you, Zaini, are under arrest. You're wanted alive... or dead." she made another move with the garden tool at Zaini who quickly headed to the door. It was locked. She broke the glass and opened the door, cutting her hand in the process. "Get back here you little runt!" the lady ran after her
"Get away from me you freak!" Zaini ran past some police officers and the old lady noticed this with a smile
"Help! Police! She stole my um... my shoes!" The policemen turned and ran towards Zaini
Great. "No! She's lying! She's trying to kill me!"
The policemen tried to stop her but she kept running- if she didn't that lady would kill her.
