I woke up and reached for Peyton, craving the feeling of his body holding mine. When I found nothing but a pillow next to me, I got up. I guess he left to go home after I fell asleep or something.
I groaned and glanced over at the clock. 10:00 AM. Is it Saturday? I hope. I grabbed my phone and turned it on to find about 20 text messages from Peyton. All consisting of either “Sorry I left last night. I didn’t want to but my mom was getting all over-protective mom like. Lol.” Or “Alex. Alex. Alex. Alex. Alex. Alex. Answer your phone. Alexandria. Alex. Alexxxxxxx!”
I chuckled to myself and called him. He answered on the first ring. “Hola muchacho.” I laughed into the phone.
“Hey. What tis up in Alexandria landia?” He asked.
I smiled and replied. “Just being spammed by non other than you.”
“Well I had to, to make you call me. Now look out your window.”
I burrowed my eyebrows, bewildered. “What why?”
“JUST DO ITTTTTTTTT!” Peyton jokingly screamed into the phone.
I rolled my eyes even though I knew he couldn’t see me. “Alright alright.” I pulled up the shade and saw Peyton sitting on the balcony outside my room. “Peyton?!” I exclaimed.
“I missed you so I came.” He half smirked and took my hand.
“You’re a cheesy little fucker aren’t you Peyton Knight?” I smirked and inched closer to him.
“You know it.” He said softly, cupping my jaw and tilting my head up. He softly touched his lips to mine, sending electric sparks throughout my body. I smiled against his lips and pulled away.
“So does this mean we’re like… dating?” I wondered out loud.
He chuckled softly and looked longingly at my lips, as if they were going to disappear if his weren’t connecting to them. “I guess so. Alexandria Ella Parker is my girlfriend. I like the sound of that. Girlfriend.”
I laughed gently. “And Peyton I have no clue what your middle name is Knight is my boyfriend. Boyfrienddddd!
“I LOVE ALEXANDRIA ELLA PARKER!” Peyton screamed while leaning on the railing of the balcony.
“Now you’re a weird cheesy fucker.” I chuckled.
* * *
“Nope. I’m not doing it Peyton. No way in hell.” I replied, placing my hands on my hips stubbornly.
“C’mon pleaseeeeee Alexxxxx!” He pouted at me and gave me the puppy eyes.
“No Peyton. I’m not gonna be like those annoying couples in those movies.”
“C’mon it will be fun!”
“Fine you little butt.” I sat down on the picnic blanket next to him as he gave me an icecream cone. “I always eat dessert before dinner.” It was 6:15 or so and we were in the park having a picnic. Behind us the sun was setting so the sky was a pretty orange-pink color. What am I saying? I sound like some lovestruck girl from a romance movie or something. I looked up and smiled at Peyton, who looked like the happiest person in the world.
“Why are you so happy?” I asked, raising one eyebrow.
“Because I’m looking at the most amazing girl in the world.” He smiled, a genuine smile this time. Not his usual mischievous-looking smirk that didn’t quite reach his eyes. This was a big, real, goofy smile that made his eyes shine and smile along with him.
I rolled my eyes. “God you’re so cheesy.”
“Heyyyyy Peyton!” The familiar voice rang through the park and I winced the second I recognized it.
Peyton momentarily adverted his attention to her. “Hi Kacie.” He replied. He looked back at me and smiled apologetically.
Kacie looked at me coldly and narrowed her eyes. “Hello Alexandria.” She spat. I nodded back in response and studied the now interesting picnic blanket.
“So Peyton,” She said flirtingly. “Do you wanna like hang out? Like now?” She twirled her hair and smiled innocently.
“I can’t.” He replied. “I’m sorta on a date with my girlfriend. So…”
Kacie glared my way and retorted. “Oh. Well, I’ll see you two at school.” She narrowed her eyes at me before strutting away.
I nervously played with my hands and looked at the time. “I-I gotta go.” I said softly before getting up. “Thanks for the picnic Peyton…” I started to speed walk away and ended up half running, holding my hand over my mouth to keep the strangled cries inside.
“Wait Alex!” I heard him running after me and I went faster, feeling an anxiety attack coming. Kacie was going to make my life a living hell at school. I know it…
I ran faster. My feet kept moving towards home even though my heart was screaming at me to go back to Peyton. When I finally got home I ran into the house and stormed up the stairs to my room. I paced around breathing deeply, trying to calm myself down. But I ended up letting out short breaths and strangled cries. I raked my hands through my hair while pacing around, hot tears streaming down my face.
I knew no one was home since Luke and Alice were in New York City for some business thingy for Luke’s job. So no one could hear me crying. I sat on my bed and cried even more into my pillow. I didn’t even know why I was crying anymore. Just releasing all my feelings that I’ve held in I supposed. I heard the door open from downstairs and shut up almost immediately. My first thought was to hide, which I did. I squeezed myself under my bed and listened carefully.
“Alexandria Ella Parker.” A gruff voice said eerily calm. Wait, I knew that voice… I covered my mouth and widened my eyes. No… it can’t be…
