5 Stages of Change (A Kuroko no Basket Fanfic)

[Aomine Daiki] Confession

'Can you meet me outside?'

You stared at the text you got from Aomine. Even if the both of you didn't change numbers, both haven't dared to text the other until now. It was the Winter Cup and Too just lost to Seirin, and that somehow awakened the old 'him' from his arrogance so you were not that surprised he texted first.

"You should talk to him (Last Name)-san," Kuroko said, suddenly appearing besides you.

"G-AH! Stop it Kuroko!" you jumped in surprise but he looked serious.

"This may served as an eye opener to Aomine-kun but you can help him change for the better permanently." he whispered.

You bit your lip in hesitance and he gave a small smile of encouragement as a reply, saying he'll tell the team to wait while you go talk to Aomine. Nervously, you went over to the meeting spot to see Aomine laying down on the cemented ground, looking up at the sky in deep thought.

"Aomine-kun?" you whispered making him snap out of whatever train of thought he had.

"(First Name)," he mumbled and stood up facing you, "You came," his shoulder relaxed a bit with relief. As if he was expecting you not to come at all.

"Why did you call me here?" you asked, crossing your arms. Willing yourself not to hug him because of his confused and defeated expression you can make out from the weak mask of annoyance he wore.

"I uhhh..." he scratch the back of his neck nervously, "I wanted to say sorry for everything (First Name). I shouldn't have treated you the way I did." Your eyes teared up almost in reflex at the sincerity in his voice. You can finally see a part of the old Daiki in the man standing before you. "Ahomine! This was what I've been waiting for to forgive you you baka!" you finally let everything out.

The blue-haired male's eyes widened at the sight of your tears. He took only a few steps to be near you and wrapped his strong muscular arms around you to give the comfort you had only found in him. "I'm sorry. I'm really sorry (First Name)," he whispered as he held you tightly. Aomine's heart sped up as he finally held you again.

"You better not revert fully to that arrogant you. If you do, I'll really hate you," was your reply.

He chuckled at that, "Alright (First Name),"

You two stayed like that until Momoi came to tell Aomine that the team is leaving since he asked for a few more minutes earlier when she first found him.

"Ohohoho~ What's this Dai-chan?" Momoi smirked teasingly making you two pull away with blushing faces.

"Shut up Satsuki!" Aomine snapped in embarassment.

"Demo, aren't you dating Kagami-kun?" she turned to you and a flash of pain and anger crossed Aomine's face but it was quickly gone.

You blinked as if processing what she said then when it clicked, "EHHHH I AM!?!"

The two of them looked at you with confusion at your reaction. "Ha? Midorima and Kise said you were going out with the bastard?" Aomine raised an eyebrow.

"Midorima-kun and Kise?" You blinked then facepalmed, "They got the wrong idea! Taiga and I are not together. He's like a brother geez!"

Both of them blinked too and then Momoi smirked quickly leaving you two after saying goodluck to Aomine. A tension arise and you didn't know why.

"Have you kept the thing I gave you back at Teiko?" he asked quietly and you nodded pulling it out of your back. "You can...umm... open it now,"

Your eyes widened and you gently opened it, and pulled out a small old button that confused you. "A button?"

"It was the second button of my uniform (First Name)," he mumbled hoping you get the message and when you did your face slowly turned red.

"B-But That means-?" you stammered getting nervous. He got near you again and put a hand on top of yours that held the button.

"I love you (First Name). It took you to leave for me to realize it," he looked away but his hand on yours was tight and warm. "I know you might not feel the same way because of what happened but I just wanted you to know."

"Daiki" you whispered, making him look at you after awhile. "I love you too,"

When those words came out of your mouth the male's eyes widened and he grinned so sincerely that your heart thumped swelled with happiness. He hugged you by the waist and kissed you passionately. All his emotions pouring out in the kiss making you feel overwhelmed in a good way until, that is, you felt something on your chest.

"A-AHOMINE YOU PERVERT!"

"O-Ouch! (First Name)!"

Oh well, he was your stupid pervert now. And you wouldn't change it for anything else.
