After beating the crap out of Luke and scarring his masculinity, it was time for him to leave and me to fall asleep. That was 2 days ago on a Friday, so gratefully I hadn't missed out on much work. Having done my daily routine I went downstairs to see my beloved mother staring out the window dreamily, with her elbow propped up the window sill and her chin resting on the palm of her hands. I sneaked up behind her slowly trying not to make a sound.
"What chu doin'?" I burst out causing my mother to jump up with fright. She started blushing furiously, wait... blushing? I slightly pushed my mother away and looked out the window to see out new neighbor Dan or Dean or something like that walking around his garden with a phone in his hand.
"Were you checking him out?" I said pointing at the guy.
"N-No!" She replied far too early.
"Who's checking who out?" Isaac tumbled down the stairs. Well, not exactly tumbled but more like lazily walked down the stairs in a I-would- rather-jump-than-just-continue- walking way.
"Mom's checking that guy out?" I said pointing at the neighbor.
"Which guy?" Zac said slowly coming down the stairs.
"Neighbor Dan or Dean guy?" Isaac tilted his head as he stared out the window.
"Who's Dan or Dean?" Eric came tumbling down the stairs the same way Isaac had.
"Neighbor guy" Isaac, Zac and I replied simultaneously as we all watched him talk into his phone.
"Kids just eat your breakfast." Mom sighed. As Eric came too the four of us stared at neighbor guy until he quickly turned around and all of us ducked... it wasn't the best idea we ever had, I ended up bumping into Eric causing him to fall on Zac and the both of them to fall flat on their backs. Isaac, the only logical one from us moved away from the window and behind the wall. I, on the other hand was laughing at the two idiot groaning on the floor.
"What? What happened?" Mom rushed over towards the window.
"Somebody has a crush!" I sang. I'm glad mom found someone of her interest. She hadn't dated since dad left, she was completely heart broken. Just thinking about dad made my heart drop to my toes. It's been a month from his text and I still hadn't seen him, I was somewhat relieved but also disappointed. I could've gotten answers to the million questions flowing across my mind. I feel sad for mom. But then again I hadn't dated since George. (A/N- just in case you don't remember George refer to chapter 3.) I decided to try and forget about them. This isn't the time.
"Mommy has a crush!" Zac sang.
"Who has a crush?" Connor said lazily coming down the stairs.
"Mom" Isaac, Eric, Zac and I answered.
"A crush on who?" Connor tilted his head.
"Neighbor guy" the four of us sang simultaneously.
"Neighbor guy Dan or Dean?" Connor's eyes widened.
"Yup" I said as Zac walked up the stairs to get dressed. Eric walked towards the bathroom on this floor.
Having eaten my cereal I went upstairs to get my bags. When I came back down I saw Luke casually leaning on the kitchen island and chatting with my mom. When he saw me he gave me his full-on toothy grin.
"What are you doing here?" I asked.
"Good morning to you too cupcake" he grinned, causing me to roll my eyes.
"Can't you just call me April?"
"If you call me Luke" he smiled.
"I'm your dreams Evans." I ruffled his hair.
"Aww! You guys are adorable together!" My mother cooed.
"Huh?" I was confused, what is she talking about?
"Luke just told me about the two of you dating" She smiled.
"Evans!" I said through clenched teeth, "You're so gonna get it"
"Nice meeting you Ms. Peterson. Good bye." he waved at my mother and rushed towards the door.
"We are not dating" I stated. I would never know what's going on in that thick skull of his.
"Suure" my mother dragged out sending a wink in my direction.
"Bye mom" I said as I walked towards the door. She replied with a quick bye too as she rushed up the stairs to get ready for work.
"April?" Connor grabbed my hand gently, making me stop.
"What?" I asked.
"Umm... your friend... Heather?" He looked nervous.
"What about her?"
"D-does she like me" he scratched the back of his neck.
"Why? Do you?" I asked, a bit of hope lighting up. I never wanted Heather to be with Connor because he might just break her heart and all. But if he likes her too then I'll try and make it work!
"Umm... kinda" he blushed.
"Okay bye" I rushed out the door, smiling like an idiot.
"APRIL!" Connor yelled?
When I started walking down the pavement I felt a slight breeze blowing. I quickly took the part behind the house so I could avoid Luke. I guess I didn't feel like going with him today. It felt nice to get some fresh air for once. I walked past a familiar playground and I felt my heart tighten. George and I met there about 10 years ago. I still remember that promise he made when we were 12.
---------
"Do you think when we grow up we'll be girlfriend and boyfriend?" He asked staring at the beautiful night sky as we laid down on the soft grass beneath us."What make you think that?" I asked wide-eyed.
"It's just that... whenever I'm around you I'm extra happy and all that" he blushed.
"I feel the same too..." My cheeks started burning up.
"Then can we be a couple from now" he asked, giving me his famous puppy eyes which made his gorgeous hazel eyes sparkle. I could see a tiny bit of hope lit up his features.
"Okay" I blushed.
"I promise when we're older we'll be married and we'll have 3 kids!" He fist bumped the air causing me to start giggling.
----------
I remember he didn't want his first kiss until he was 15. That was one of the things I adored about him. He was a very cheesy guy. I loved him so much, and he loved me too. I can't believe he's gone...
The thought of George made my heart fell heavy. I'm supposed to move on, but... I can't. The sound of a cars horn beeping continuously broke me away from my thoughts. I hadn't even realized I've made it to school. The car wasn't horning because of me, gratefully. I entered the school feeling gloomy. I left my bags at my locker and took my little notebook and a pen.
I walked over to the back of the school and stopped under my particular tree and sat under it's cool shade. I began to write everything away.
