10). Someone Special.

The rest of the day went like a blur. Today felt boring. I ended up sitting alone in our school library and working on a project due the week after the next. Luke was hanging out with a girl who looked about our age who never left his side, yeah it felt bad not having his full attention, but he needs to keep a safe distance from me, I wouldn't want him to know. Heather was sick and stayed at home. I tried to keep her occupied by sending her a message,

Me- Hey! where are you?
Heather :3- I'm sick at home! T^T.
Me- Are you ok? How are you feeling?
Heather :3- I'm fine, I just feel a bit sleepy.
Me- Do you want me to come over?
A minute later...
Me- Heather? Do you?
Another minute later...
Me- goddammit Heather! >=(. Did you just fall asleep?!
And another minute later...
Me- idiot...

And that's what happened. I walked around the place after I finished reading my book. School had ended a couple of minutes ago and I waited for Zac to get out of detention so I could tell him I was leaving. I ended up getting my phone out and texting him.

As I walked towards the car park to leave Luke came running out of nowhere and tackled me in a huge hug.

"I'm so sorry Heather! I didn't mean to lie to lie your mom! Inwas just joking!" He begged, holding me tighter into his arms.

"Get off me or I'll never forgive you" I laughed.

"I have to introduce you to someone" he smiled as he pointed at a girl with short brown hair leaning on the hood of his car. I guess that's his girlfriend or someone. She is gorgeous!

"Opel, this is April. The girl i was telling you about" he talks about me? I guess I mean something to him... maybe.

"Hey I'm Opel" the girl smiled as she reached out her hand to shake mine.

"Nice to meet you" I smiled back.

"Do you want me to take you home?" Luke asked me, casually putting his arms around Opel's shoulders, which she violently shook off.

"It's fine i can always walk home anyway. And besides you have to drop Opel off too and all." I ranted.

"It's fine, Opel and I live together anyway" he smiled nudging her side.

"Oh please! I could've stayed at my place if it wasn't for your stupid sister!" She spat as she walked into the car and slammed the door shut. Luke's facial expressions darkened. His whole face changed in a split second.

"Luke, I'm going together walk home okay?" They clearly had something going on and I didn't want to be a part of it. I don't even know why Luke would date a girl like her.

"Are you sure?" His voice was cracked.

"Yes" I said as I placed a sweet and gentle kiss on his cheek. The small little act brightened up his features, causing his ears to turn pink and a dreamy smile to form on his lips.

"Bye" I said as I walked away. He didn't look happy about the way Opel insulted his sister, I would've slapped anyone who insulted my brothers and tell them to shut the duck up and sit the hell down and a eat a taco then choke on it.

As I walked down the pavement my earphones were blasting my favourite song, catch and release by Matt Simons, I felt my phone buzz indicating a text message.

Sexydragonslayer- you soooo love me! <3 <3 <3 ♡.
Me - only in your dreams.
Sexydragonslayer- you probably dream about me ;)
Me- I do dream about you .
Sexydragonslayer- what type of dreams ;)
Me- those psychotic ones where you kill someone.
Sexydragonslayer- -_-
Me- where are you?
Sexydragonslayer- at home why?
Me- I thought you were driving.
Sexydragonslayer- why? Do you care about me April?
Me- who else can I beat in a game of cod?
Sexydragonslayer- you're evil.
Me- it's not my fault you suck at that game.
Sexydragonslayer- so evil...
Me - bye.

I switched my phone off and continued to walk down the pavement and took my usual twists and turns. I bumped into someone and one of my earphones came off.

"I- I'm so sorry sir!" I stuttered.

"It's fine miss" the man smiled. He looked familiar with his dark hair and his little beard growing. He seemed to be holding a piece of paper with something written on it. I noticed him intently looking at my eyes and quickly looking away. He looked like he was suprised at a new revelation.

"By any chance miss, could you help me find this place" he said holding out the piece of paper. I read it out and noticed this is the exact same address where I live.

"Excuse me sir, but do I know you?" I tilted my head.

"I don't know" I shrugged.

"Do you know me?" I tilted my head.

"You look familiar" he said looking at my eyes again.

"Could you guess my name?" I asked, a bit scared.

"April?" He asked, I could see hope brightening his blue eyes.

"H- how did you" I stuttered, slowly steeping away from him. Oh my god, stalker, rapist, who knows who this guy is!! He grabbed my arm and pulled me enveloping me in a tight hug.

"I missed you so much, princess!!" I felt cold drops of water on my shoulder. It can't be!

"Dad?" I choked out.

"Yes my sweet princess. You look more beautiful than I've ever imagined!" He hugged me tighter. This can't be my father. I felt anger and rage taking over my body as I pushed him away.

"Do you think flattery is going to work!" I spat, "you actually believe that i qould forgive you after 8 years of ignorance?! You don't know how much you've done to hurt my family!" I felt tears sliding down my face.

"Let me explain, April!" He begged.

"You don't have to explain shit! I can't believe you! As soon as mom starts to move on you have to come and ruin everything don't you!" I yelled as I walked around him.

"No! Let me explain!" He grabbed my hand forcing me to stay.

"Why? Why do you think you deserve another chance?" I cried.

"Because! I did it for all of you!" He yelled.

"What is that supposed to mean?!" I said silently, the tears hadn't stopped flowing.

"That morning, I lost my job" he began, "everything i had done for my business went to waste because I had gotten bankrupt. The thieves hadn't been found and I felt like a failure to our family" his eyes were swelling up, "I hadn't no choice but to earn money by joining the military. I always made sure your mother's pay would increase with the amount of money I put in." My heart sank. Our father, the man my family despised our whole lives had risked his life for the sake of ours. I can't believe it. "I'm sorry" he ended, falling to his knees and sobbing.

"Dad no!" I said holding onto him as I fell to my knees too. "I'm sorry, I never knew" I hugged him tightly. I helped him stand up and continued to walk home with him by my side. His eyes were puffy and his nose was red.

When we got home I unlocked the door to see Zac finding for something inside the fridge. He looked to the side and when he saw me he grinned, when he looked at the figure next to me his face dropped.

"Dad?"
