"He's here!" She said cheerfully, and I turned around, looking at the person behind me. He was tall, wearing a thick woolen coat and a scarf wrapped around his neck, his hands in his pockets, and his short blue hair dancing with the wind..
Wait....Blue....?
"Hello..?" Lucy's voice ringed loudly in my ears when I realized I had been distracted for too long. But I was afraid to turn and look at her.
I could see that man in full color. He had blue hair, a shade like faded sapphire, big hazel eyes and a scarlet red pattern on the right side of his face, framing his eye. His coat was a dark blue with a hint of green in it, his scarf had a light yellow tint on the white. I could not believe it...I could see the colors...but...
I turned to look at Lucy, and anything else around me. Nothing. It was still in black and white. 'But how? ' I faced the man again; he was still in color. I was so confused I didn't know what to believe anymore.
"Are you okay?" Lucy asked me, continuing her sentence and trying to make me focus. I snapped back and glared at her colorless face for long.
"Yeah, I'm okay. I just felt a bit dizzy, that's all."
"You shouldn't be standing for long, you haven't recovered fully yet!" She took me by the shoulders and led me to the fountain, were I sat again. I looked at the man once more, my jaw obviously dropping by itself.
'I only see colors...on him? '
"Okay, so now that we are a bit better, I think..." she cleared her throat and continued.
"This is the one I told you about. He will be helping you out for as long as you need."
"Oh, that's...that's very kind of you. You don't need to do this though, I'll probably be a pain", I said laughing coldly, looking away to avoid his piercing gaze.
"That's okay. I'll be here for you for as long as you need. My name is Jellal Fernandes. And you are?" A small but gentle smile appeared on his face, forcing his hazel eyes to close a little, as he offered me his hand to help me up.
"I-I'm Erza", I replied tentatively, while giving him my hand. I got up and glared at him for long; the way he was exploring me with his eyes was making me feel very awkward, but somehow...warm, at the same time.
"So I'll let you two talk for a while, I'll go back to the guild, you two return home later, it's getting late. Goodnight!" Lucy greeted us cheerfully, and started her way back to Fairy Tail.
Jellal and I walked around in the park for a while, talking about how things are going to be from now on and the ways he will be helping me. After a while, we sat on a bench to rest. The moonlight was being reflected on the water's surface in the fountain, giving the place a cozy, but at the same time intimidating feeling.
"So...this all happened from that accident, right?" He asked, trying to sound as gentle as possible. I nodded in response.
"It's not easy", I said. "Everyday life has gotten so much harder, being able to see colors is more important than I ever thought. It gives you a different aspect, you know? It lets you know there is a difference. A difference we don't appreciate." I took a deep breath and continued.
"And on top of that, I lost all the memories I had created. People called me Titania, I was one of the strongest magicians in Fairy Tail, and now I can't even remember the names of everyone in my guild. It's so painful to know those people love me and remember me, while I can't recall even a second of it." I took a moment to look at Jellal. He seemed to be paying great attention to everything I said, and to be empathizing with me in such an extent it made me feel secure with him.
"I know it's hard. I understand you. But I'll be here to help you through it. I promise." His gaze filled me with trust and it somehow assured me that I can rely on him. I couldn't hold back the smile that was forcing its way to my lips.
"Thank you, really..." I said quietly, and shivered from the strong wind that blew. I was surprised when he, in no time, took his thick jacket off and put it on my back, covering me. It was so warm, and it had his pungent smell, a mix of honey and tulip, that made me cover myself completely in it, as I closed my eyes to enjoy it.
"Are you better now?" his voice ringed softly in my ears, and I nodded. I could almost see his smile behind me before he put his arm around me and brought me closer to his body. It felt so weird and so embarrased, but he was warm and he was giving out a friendly, calming aura, making me wish this moment would never end.
"It's scarlet", he said after a while.
"What?" I asked, and lifted my head to look at him in question.
"Your hair", he continued. "It's scarlet red. You can't see it, right?" I hadn't realized until that moment that, being so focused on everything else made me forget to notice things on myself.
"Th-that's right...thank you, for telling me.." For some reason, my mind couldn't really function properly at that moment, but it immediately made a connection. "Isn't that my surname, too? What an irony", I commented, and let myself rest on his body again, enjoying the warmth it was radiating.
"Yeah..it is... "
