Chapter 8

"You...I was fighting you when the accident happened....I remember your laughter, your vicious grin...I remember you pointing at me with your magic...throwing me off the cliff..." I looked at him dead in the eye.

"You...where the one who tried to kill me..."

My voice came out shaky and weak; I was terrified of the person I was embracing just some moments ago.

I panicked. What now?

My first thought was to get the hell out of this place. But he was standing in front of the door, I couldn't just run, catching me would be a piece of cake.

"Erza-"

"Don't you dare take one more step towards me!" I yelled at him, when he attempted to come closer. I had to leave. I had to.

No choice. With my fastest movements, I jumped over the balcony and landed on the tree next to it, fortunately reaching the ground with safety. I heard him call out to me, but I didn't care. I had to get away from him. Run.

Since nobody would be at the guild at this time, I decided to head to Lucy's place. It was so dark, everything looked dull and lifeless -the lack of color came to add to it.

I knocked on the door forcefully, and leaned on my knees to catch a breath. The door opened after a while, and Lucy looked at me worried.

"Erza? What are you-"

"I'll explain, get inside", I cut her mid sentence, pushing her inside the house.

"And so I jumped off the balcony and ran here", I finished, and Lucy had the same desperate face as the one I remember when I woke up after the accident.

"I knew you would remember eventually...we all knew." She put her hand on her forehead, closing her eyes for a while.

"If you all knew, why the hell did you let him that close to me!?"

"It was Master's orders-"

"Are you kidding me, he might had just taken my life already!" I found myself shouting, holding Lucy from her shirt. When I realized what I was doing, I let her go and apologized in a silent voice.

"I don't really get it either, trust me", she said, like I never grabbed her that violently. "But he won't be looking for you now, you're safe here, you can stay for as long as you need to." She sounded so gentle and kind it almost felt unfair.

"What am I supposed to do, Lucy? Just what?" I wondered, digging my face in my hands and holding back my tears once again.

"I think you should talk to him."

"What!?" I exclaimed, looking at her surprised. "After-"

"Yes, after everything he did, I think you should talk. Ask him why he did it, and then just came back like you would never remember. I believe it's the best solution you have right now." I looked down to my thighs, and let my tears roll on my cheeks.

"I'm scared, Lucy", I whispered. "I am so scared.."

"Oh please, Erza Scarlet knows no fear!", she loudly said. "Erza Scarlet is Titania, a top Fairy Tail magician, full of bravery and pride! Someone as small as Jellal isn't gonna tear her down now, is he?" She spoke in such delight that it made me smile.

"Yeah...you're right." I wiped away the tears and closed my eyes for a while, taking a deep breath.

"You're right", I repeated, now looking at her with shining eyes and a smile, which she happily repaid.
