For a few seconds, there was silence. All the movement stopped, along with breathing. The reaction to the word 'home' was not what Nat expected. Nobody moved, nobody breathed or even blinked.
"How do we know they're not tricking us?" Suzzette was the first to snap out of her thought about home. Her warm room, up the curling stairs.
"This is stupid." Jan shook his head, walking up to Nat. He looked around to see what everyone was doing. Holly was running around to get to her computer, Eugenio was standing still, recovering from the shock. Maya was stood up and was turning around all the time with a paranoid look upon her face. Suzzette was helping Maya calm down and, following her lead, was looking around frantically. Nicole, on the other hand, was the one running up to pretty much everyone, unsure of what to do.
"You know this can be a trap, right?" Jan asked Nat and narrowed his eyes. This was one of the most risky and stupid decisions Nat had ever made. Taking in store the fact that she had made some pretty risky and stupid decisions in her life, this only meant it was petty much the most riskiest of all.
Nat shrugged and flashed a smile before happily skipping off to the direction of the rooms. Jan sternly followed her, marching just behind.
"Nat this is stupid!"
"I know." She stated from behind her gritted teeth, not pleased with Jan's opinion.
"You can't just say 'We're going' and then everyone goes with what you say!" He exclaimed, walking into her room after her. He left the door wide open, making the whole conversation audible in the main room where everyone was.
"I know." Nat nodded, looking into her closet to see how much clothes she could fit into her backpack. Jan shook his head, stomping up to her in a stroppy manner and turning her around to face him.
"You can't just leave-" He threw his hands up, pointing to everything around.
"This super base that you built and go off on some sort of adventure that we don't even know is true!"
"We didn't build it." Nat muttered. Jan knitted his eyebrows and told her to speak up.
"I said 'We didn't build it'." The girl repeated herself, looking down to the floor. Jan narrowed his eyes.
"What do you mean-"
"We didn't build the base. We're going to go back home and find that bloody cure." Nat raised her voice with every word she said, going from normal talk and developing into a shout.
"Now get out!" She yelled into his face, receiving a confused look from the boy. He wanted more of an explanation as to what 'We didn't build it' meant. It was hard to believe that there would just be a random super, technology stacked base left in the middle of nowhere. For now, Jan decided to skip that topic. He could see that Nat was getting mad and he made the best decision: save the topic about the base for later.
"You can't just decide for the whole group! At least listen to what they have to say before you make a final decision!" Jan yelled back, louder than Nat. Everyone in the main room was standing still and listening to the conversation. They didn't know how to react, all giving each other looks of awkwardness and glancing to the floor from time to time.
"Yes I can and that's exactly what I'm doing right now!" Nat argued back, yelling at Jan once again. Each argument came louder than the other, as if there was a competition for who can shout the loudest.
"At least I'm not the one who ran away with his best friend to some far away land and left the others alone for almost a year or so, then suddenly came running back for help." Nat raised her brow, crossing her arms and giving Jan a cold look.
