The road that the Seven were travelling on was neatly laid out with asphalt. There were trees and bushed along both sides of it, and there was at least ten abandoned cars scattered along the road. They passed more and more signs as they went on, which guided them along when they met another road passing through the one they were in. Slowly, they were getting close to the lake.
"We need to hurry round the lake," Suzzette said. "I don't want another encounter with the water zombies."
"If anything happens, we know their weak spot." Nicole commented, trying to brighten up the mood.
"No, the thing is, I don't want anyone hurt before we reach home," Suzzette sighed. "We've still got quite a lot to go, and it would be a shame if one of us died halfway through the journey."
"Okay, let's stop talking about deaths," Maya suggested. "Something more important, please. Like, who do we think is the Master?"
"I'll bet you it's Borys," Nicole raised her han. "Anyone agree with me?"
"Borys wouldn't want to kill Jan." Nat commented, joining the discussion.
"But then the zombies said that Master made a mistake," Eugenio added. "Maybe he tried killing someone else, just his powers weren't as strong back then."
"How do you know so much about the Master and his powers?" Jan asked, stepping a little bit closer to Eugenio just to see if he started to get worried. "Maybe you are the Master. You know, E rhymes with free."
"Jan, you're getting too deep into this." Eugenio sighed, patting Jan's shoulder.
"Or am I?" Jan asked. Eugenio rolled his eyes, slightly speeding up so he wouldn't have to walk beside Jan.
"The real issue here isn't who the Master is, it's how to kill him," Nat mentioned. "We can't just go and kill our friends randomly with 'Oops, I thought you were the Master'."
"We don't even know if he can be killed." Nicole added, looking back at everyone. She was walking at the front, along with Nat and Suzzette.
"He probably can, if he's any of our friends." Holly commented. She was walking to the side of the road, looking at all the leaf. It was the middle of autumn, and so the leaf were all different colours. Some were gold, some were dark orange, some red, and some green or dead.
"What about the helper?" Holly asked, still staring at the tree tops. "We know nothing about him, or her."
"Let's just assume it's someone who'd gladly work with Borys." Nat suggested. If Borys was the Master, it was most likely that his helper was one of his close friends.
"It would have been Sew, if he wasn't dead," Nicole muttered. "But then that gives Borys a motive to be the Master, you know. Revenge."
"Or is he dead?" Jan asked curiously.
"Seriously," Nicole stopped in her tracks, looking back at Jan. "Stop."
"I'm asking serious questions! What if Sew is alive and well but we're just unaware of that!" Jan exclaimed, also stopping so he could argue with Nicole.
"Guys, stop talking about Seweryn. Seriously." Maya sighed, walking on by herself. Everyone else stopped for a second, taking in what just happened. The topic about Seweryn clearly hurt Maya, so she decided to try and stop the discussion. It was understandable that Maya didn't want to hear anything about her deceased boyfriend, because the topic would obviously make her sad. Even a mention of anyone's vision sent her on an emotional rollercoaster, because she had flashbacks to her own vision where she saw Sew.
