I gave up trying to memorise the way, the place is too big and confusing but we finally reached a tall plain wooden door that the maid was holding open for me. I stepped inside a very simple but fairly big dining room with a long table that had a glossy top finish centred in the middle of the room. There were a couple of swords and a few armour dotted on the walls on the right hand side however, the left hand side was all one window looking out into the garden which was covered in tea lights giving it a magical feeling.

At the head of the dining table sat Nicolas’s dad ‘the lordship’ who was looking straight at me and sat beside him was Sammy who as disgusting as his nature was eating like a pig, and I am pretty sure he wasn’t swallowing as he kept stuffing half a plate of food into his mouth at a rapid speed. I was surprised that Nicolas’s dad hadn’t flinched or even appeared to be affected by Sammy’s’ lack of table manners, as I neared the top end of the table he stood up and gestured for me to take the seat on his left.

“I’m glad you can join us, please sit”

I took the seat beside him and tried my best not to fidget as I noticed all the delicious food varying in different sizes of silver plates and smalles were all situated very closely to Sammy’s mouth, something I think he did on purpose so that I can have none of OUR food.

I must have zooned out as when I turned around I saw the lord laughing at me, “I see you are very hungry, you should have mentioned that straight away my dear”.

“I’m sorry” I don’t know why I apologised but I just did.

I was expecting the lord to call on someone as there was no one in the room apart from us but just as I finished apologising a man also dressed in black as the rest of the staff appeared with a silver tray and a wine bottle and glass.

“Sorry I don’t drink” I spoke to the butler who had cocked his eyebrow and then looked at the lord.

At the same time Sammy starting coughing up his half swallowed food and he quickly went to grab his own glass of wine whilst shaking his head and trying not to laugh.

“My dear I thought you were hungry?” asked the lord.

“Yes I am but I don’t drink alcohol”

This time both the lord and Sammy started to laugh and whatever Sammy had in his mouth ended by whacking me in the face, I wish I could kick Sammy under the table but he is too far away so I just slumped in my seat annoyed and embarrassed.

“This is not wine it is blood” said the butler who was holding in a laugh.

I know I should not have been shocked but I was, but my mind then went blank just as the word blood had registered and that was the only significant thing I could smell as it instantly over powered every sensation I had. Sensing my hunger and desperation the butler poured a full glass of the thick red liquid and left the opened bottle in front of me before leaving my side.

I did not give it a second thought as I grabbed hold of the glass and gulped down in one go all of the blood making sure I did not leave to waste a single drop. I felt hungrier than before and as I went to pour myself more of the liquid I remember I was not alone in the room so I slowly lowered the bottle and turned to face Sammy and the lord.

Casually sitting with his arms crossed the lord gave me a half smile as he handed me a napkin to presumably wipe the mess around my mouth. However, Sammy looked more like he was going to be sick with a hint of anger showing in his eyes I quickly looked away from him feeling ashamed.

“I don’t want to come off as being rude and I don’t want to keep you from your meals as I know both of you are very hungry” he looked at me then continued to talk.
