I woke up this morning with a strange excitement, although I didn’t know why I was excited, I just decided to go with it. I was nearing the entrance to school and saw that Mr Taylors car was already there. I didn’t acknowledge anyone as I entered the gym and headed straight for the change rooms.
I walked over to one of the benches and notice there are only two other bags in here. I quickly change so I can spend the full two hours before school training.
When I exit the bathroom I see a boxing ring to my right, with treadmills and spin bikes lining the walls. I looked to my left and there was a completely separate room, “the weights room,” I hear a male voice behind me say. I turn to see it is Nick, Mr Taylor’s son. “The guys are going through some pretty intense training at the moment; I wouldn’t want to disturb them if I were you.”
“Good thing you’re not me then huh?” I hear a cowbell ring and look into the boxing ring to see to guys sparring. Now this is more like it, all kinds of fighting was more my thing. Without realising it I had taken a few steps towards the boxing ring, when I heard the cowbell again. I reached for the rope to pull myself up when I felt a large hand come to my shoulder, “why don’t you sit this one out?”
“Do you do it?” I asked him, purely out of curiosity.
“Kind of- ”
“What do you mean kind of, if that’s your kind of I wanna see what you’re like full on”
“Hey man what’s up?” Nick asks the stranger
“Oh, uh Cally this is Daniel” He points to the tall guy next to him. His hair thick, blonde and wavy,
“Oh, you’re the American babe, Nick was talking about?” when he smiled a dimple came into his left cheek, I felt my stomach tingle in that slight moment. Ignored. I turned to look at Nick who is now somewhat blushing.
“Mate, go take your meds I don’t know what you’re talking about.”
“Really ‘cause I have some messages here to say otherwise” Daniel comes towards me with a phone at the ready to show me, theses, messages.
“Oh umm…ahh…i…uh”
“Where is your father?” I ask him, it was indeed time for a topic change.
“He had some assignments to mark; I don’t think he’ll be back for the rest of the morning. Why is that?” I ignore him.
“So are we hitting the weights room this morning?” Daniel asks Nick,
“Well, I was hoping to, but my dad said..” he looks at me
“I do not require your assistance,”
“are you sure because I can show you how to work the treadmill”
“I’m fine” I walk away and head towards the boxing bags. I get the rope from out of my pocket and tie it around my knuckles.
“Excuse me what do you think you’re doing?” I hear a female voice come from behind me, I ignore her question gosh I’m a bitch ignoring everyone this morning. “I said what do you think you are doing?” I turn to see a well-built girl approximately my age, height and weight class. There is shakiness in her voice indicating she is unsure of how I will retaliate but she still holds her ground. “Everyone knows that’s my bag” I turn around slowly and lock eyes with her
“That statement is incorrect, you see if everyone knew that would imply that I knew as well, and I don’t know so, as you may tell I am having trouble with your analogy” she looks confused, but shakes it off.
