6 | HELLO SUPER-SOLDIER

"Agent Stinson?" A tall, brunette man called out. Amelia looked up from picking at her fingernails.

"Yes?" She replied, annoyed that the soldier she had been told to wait on was late. Without the soldier's arrival, she would have no mission to accomplish.

"I am Sergeant James Buchanan Barnes, you will be on this next mission with me." He stated.

James wasted no time to began laying out the plan for the infiltration. Though, Amelia didn't listen to much of it, she was too busy contemplating other irrelevant things and she honestly did not care, she just needed something to do.

The battle was swift in the beginning. Amelia fought robotically, not even a thought would cross her mind, it was all automatic to her. She had been sniping at the enemy targets from above and watched James', who preferred to be called Bucky, back.

She was suddenly stopped from sniping when a pair of sweaty, rough hands grasped Amelia's neck from behind. She gasped continuously for air, but when she realized that it was no use, she began to try to fight back. Amelia dug her long finger nails into the man's upper arm. He released her with a tremendous howl erupting from his lips.

Amelia focused her attention on the man and slid beneath him, making him fall. She hastily pulled a pistol from her belt and pressed the barrel to the man's head as he was attempting to get back up from his fall. She pulled the trigger without another hesitation, worried that he would try something else.

"No one, screws with me." She harshly whispered into the dead man's ear. But suddenly, a strange red skull face appeared before her. It was the infamous Johann Schmidt. His entire visage matched hell perfectly, his skin looked like it was painted in blood, his smile was devilish and you could practically imagine horns on his shiny head. But, before Amelia could even act against the inhuman, the Red Skull slammed his fist against her head, blacking her out.

"Hello super-soldier, Erskine wanted to protect you? Well guess what; I found out about the first little experiment of his and, well, here we are." Schmidt evilly smiled down at the unconscious Amelia.

"She won't do us much good, unless we drain gallons of her blood, which could kill her." Zola warned.

"Isn't that what we were planning on to do with the enhancements anyway?" Johann Schmidt growled.

"Yes, yes sir." Zola agreed then went away to collect some supplies.

Amelia jolted awake, she felt like hands had been placed all over her at some point. Steve had rescued Amelia and carried her, bridal-style, away from the room she had been abandoned, bleeding out, in. The first thing Amelia noticed was the slits that lined her arms. The two elongated, lethal and vertical slits were still wide open and lined with dried blood.

"Steve?" Amelia attempted to decipher the face above her and she struggled to stay awake without passing out again.

It's me, don't move much. You're still bleeding." He smoothed out her crippled blonde hair.

"Captain America, how exciting! I am a great fan of your films." Red Skull called out from across the building they were attempting to escape. It was all a blurry mess to Amelia, but she could still listen in.

"I see you've found your little companion. Her blood will come in great use some day," he curled up his lips, revealing his pearly white teeth, "but for now, I can only admire the jars of blood in the fridge. But, don't worry, she'll survive." Schmidt chuckled. Steve's blood boiled, he wanted to rip out the Red Skull's throat throat with his bare hands. Bucky, whom was silently following Steve the entire time, grabbed Amelia from Steve, holding her with ease.

"So, Dr. Erskine managed to inject two soldiers before he died. Not exactly an improvement but, still... impressive." Red Skull sized up Steve.

Steve began to fight Schmidt, and eventually was separated from Bucky and Amelia by Arnim Zola. During this commotion, Amelia blacked out once again, unable to stay conscious.

A roar of applause sounded, awakening Amelia with a shock. Steve was holding her almost lifeless body with tears in his eyes, yet the entire camp continued to show gratitude for saving all of the soldiers. They had trekked safely back from the battle to the base camp.

"I've got her." Peggy told as she ran up to Steve, holding Amelia's light body carefully. Peggy called for some nurses to tend to Amelia's body. Though they had never officially said it, Peggy felt as if Amelia was her friend. They both had the same views, the same strength and pride.

From afar, Amelia could still hear Bucky's strong voice as the nurses wrote down what they needed to do. "Hey, let's hear it for Captain America!" He shouted.

The entire base hollered again, cheering and screaming for Steve. Amelia smiled slightly while she was barely conscious, for the first time she was happy for him. He proved that bastard Brandt that he was more than just a spokesperson.

Before long, Steve came into the infirmary tent. "Captain, you cannot be in here. We are about to operate on her." One of the nurses attempted to shoo Steve.

"Please, I want to see her." He pleaded. Amelia could still hear him, her eyes were even open now, but everything was still blur. She was surprised that she was still alive, after all of that blood loss. Steve managed to weasel his way past the nurses to check on Amelia.

"Amelia, can you hear me?" Steve softly whispered to her.

Faintly, she nodded. "You need to pull through this surgery, okay? You lasted the whole walk here, stay alive for a little longer, can you do that?" Steve caressed her cheek.

Again, she barely nodded. But, she was already losing her grasp on life and when she passed out for the millionth time the nurses physically pushed Steve out of the tent. Steve didn't know why, but he needed Amelia to hear his voice, before she went.
