Chapter 13: The man in the mask

"Uhhh, when will we get the village." I walk slowly beside Hayate sensei holding the arm of the litter above my head, the circulation in my arms long gone.
"Well we got there in a day but at this pace it could take anything up to a week." I gasp in surprise
"A week, no way. I gotta get home, I don't wanna hold this thing for a week. I already have blisters and I've only held this thing for 2 days." He laughs softly
"Don't worry I'm only kidding, were over half way there. If we carry on like this we'll get there tomorrow afternoon." I brighten up with the thought of only having one more night of sleeping on the ground. "Yay, I can't wait to sleep in my bed, I hate sleeping on the floor."
"Raito, stop slacking, your leaning me again." I squeeze my eyes shut in annoyance, throughout the whole two days all he has done is criticise me and call me Raito, it would be nice to call me by my proper name. "Yes, sir." And he wants me to call him sir now, which is really unfair as Hayate sensei gets to call him Eito. "Calm down, you only have to deal with him for a day." I give Hayate sensei a glare.
"Shut up, why don't I call you Gekko and you can carry him." He puts his hands up in the air.
"Sorry, I can't take it I'm not fully recovered." He runs away to the cart at the back of the procession of servants and cooks. I grit my teeth in frustration, Hayates perfectly fine he just doesn't want to carry it. I walk slowly on staring at the dirt track and kicking the loose stones down the path. "Raito, stop kicking its..." BOOM. "Ratio, what was that?"
"I'm not sure sir I can't see anything, I'll go and have a look." I nod at the servants as we all place down the litter together.  I walk slowly forward and stop when I can't see the litter anymore. "Great infinite sandblast breakthrough." I inhale deeply and then exhale a stream of wind in the direction of the blast and rip off trees and plants in its path. I breath heavily after the jutsu, I haven't used that one in a while. The smoke from the explosion soon clears and in its place a man. But his state is what surprises me the most. "He-he's not hurt." Hayate poofs beside me
"You shouldn't be able to do that jutsu, you should be on the ground knocked out right now." The man menacingly states "but even with that jutsu you can never defeat me. You lost the moment you looked into my eyes." I feel myself loosing concentration as my vision becomes hazy and blurry. 'Now Son Goku.' 'Of course' I feel a rush a chakra as I'm forced out of the genjutsu by Son Goku. "What? How? You should be trapped in my genjutsu." I smirk evilly
"Never under estimate a Raito." I lunge towards him, my katanas glistening in the sun as I sprint towards him using my speed jutsu. Suddenly I feel presence beside me and a strong arm holding me back.
"No, Kurayami, although you could kill this guy I have deep connections with him and I should be the one to kill him. The rouge ninja of the hidden leaves, Zarui the demon of the hidden leaves partners with Zabuza Momochi. So Zarui where's Zabuza?" I take a better look at the ninja in front of me, he wears green shorts down to his knees with a black leaf headband with a line through it on his waist and a black sleeveless top going down to his belly button. His hair is black and shaggy and goes half way down his neck but the main thing about him is his face: it's covered by a white mask the only skin showing are his eyes. "Well you see we work for this guy called Gato now but of course we will kill him and take the money but we wanted to play his games for a bit. So Zabuza got the easy mission to kill some old guy who's building a bridge which I think is unfair as he has Haku but I got the hard one a was sent to kill him." He points casually to the litter now on the floor "but it seems he didn't get much protection this time so killing him will be easy." I clench my teeth
"It won't be easy now your up against a Raito." I struggle against Hayate senseis grip, I want to kill him from what he said. "Calm down, as I said this is my fight, I am the one who will finish him." I stop as I realise that this is his fight and stand down. "I get it I'll protect Eito." I jump back to the litter and take a defensive stance at the front.
"Raito, what's happening."
"Zarui the demon of the leaves has come to kill you, but don't worry my sensei will kill him."
"What? Zarui, I knew this would happen, your village should have sent better ninjas not a genin and a Jonin. This is a disgrace I will be complaining as soon as get to the village." I keep silent and stare intensely at the battle before me.
Hayate suddenly stops and freezes in shock "I-I can't see anything, Kurayami stay back I know this jutsu well I can protect myself." I grit my teeth but hold back all the same, if things get bad I'll step in. Zarui smirks in amusement at his words. "Can you?" He appears next to Hayate as he grabs his sword and moves quickly back so Hayate can't get him. Hayate pulls out a kunai and holds it defensively in front of him. Zarui quickly slashes his arm and the wound spurts open dropping blood all over the floor. "Hmm, tasty just what I wanted, nice fresh blood." Zarui licks the sword with his tongue and licks his lips in delight. "Now for the kill." He quickly appears behind Hayate sensei as he readys the sword, aiming for his back.
It all happens in slow motion, I perform a hand sign and suddenly I'm in front of the sword. It glistening it the sun as it swipes across my stomach, along the same line as my scar. "How ironic, it seems I'll die by my sensei's sword." The wound spurts crimson blood onto the floor as I cough up a large clump of blood onto my clothes. The world becomes blurry as I feel a pair of hands cover my neck and a kunai slightly piercing the side of it. "One step closer and she dies, and it won't be pretty. Drop your kunai and back up to the litter, I'll be taking her with me for now but I'll be back. But for now good bye." I feel a hand knock my head and suddenly the world turns black.
