"I'm back." Hayate sings as he enters the hospital room.
"Took you long enough. Three hours I might add." I retort back, due to my injuries, still bed ridden.
"That's the Kurayami I know, now I brought you a pair of jeans and a top, yes it's cropped don't worry, and I got you something." My eyes slightly brighten at the unexpected kindness Hayate shows me. He pulls out a small wooden box and hands it over to me. I reach out for it with my fragile hands and feel the cold polished wood in my hands making the clammyness in them slightly go away. On the front of the block is my name: Kurayami Ratio and below it is my clans symbol: two circles one ontop of the other with a line to connect them, the top one has a swirl in it and the bottom one has a dot in it. I reach for the clasp on the side of the box and I slowly undo the clasp, being careful not to drop it with my shakeing hands. I slowly lift up the lid and to my suprise find a picture, one of me and Hayate sensei when we stopped off at a village when we went on our mission. I lift up the picture and see the word friends engraved on the bottom of the inside of the box. "It's a place where you can always keep your friends close, I have one as well. My father gave it to me when I was about your age. Here look" He takes a similar wooden box out of his kunai pouch and hands it over to me. I put my one down and take his to see the words: Hayate Gekko on the top of it and a symbol of his own family. I open it to see it jammed packed of pictures of people. Some I don't recognise others I do but as I look through them all I stop at a certain picture. "You- you knew my mother." He looks over at the picture and hmms at me "oh yeah I was only young but I did know her she was so kind back then and was friends with everyone in the village. But look" he holds up the picture of me from his box and of my mother "similar right?" I nod in agreement
"Yeah" we both have the same colour hair and eyes but I get my face from my father and my nose as well. Hayate picks up the box and closes it shut "everytime you make a new friend put a picture if them in there, when your older you'll be glad you did." I nod in agreement and close my box before placing it on the table beside me.
"She's in here." A nurse opens the door to my room to reveal kurotsuchi and the tsuchikage walk in. "Kurayami, haven't seen you in a while." The tsuchikage says in his nasal voice before sitting down on one of the chairs. "I hear it took a while to fix you up. Your foot should be properly healed although we had to replace some of the bones with metal but we used our best healers on that so it will just be a case of strengthening it up again. Your stomach and cheeks will be fine but it has left some nasty scars that may never recover. You'll be fine thanks to me but just be careful there are some around here that want your head." I dip my head in acceptance as the tsuchikage stands up from his chair. He signals for kurotsuchi to follow him before walking out of the door.
"Bye, your highness." I mock after him. I look up at Hayate "well that was sh-" suddenly another person bundles through the door and squeezes me half to death. "Get... Her... off... of... me." I wheeze.
"Oh my Kurayami what happened to you one minute were trying to find you the next we hear your here. Don't go worrying us again." The woman let's go of me as I finally see her face but... I don't recognise it.
"And you are?" I ask. She cocks her head to the side as if she's thinking for a moment then realises
"of course you wouldn't know me I mean you've seen me before but not recently. My names Anko and it might help if you see my student." I look over at the door to see Aiko stroll in through the door frame. She gives a small wave before walking over to the window and looking out of it. I frown at her actions before looking back to Anko. "Why are you here?" Hayate replies back before Anko can speak.
"I had to take Eito to the hidden leaf village but as soon as we got there I formed a team to come and rescue you. I managed to get a few spare Jonin and Chunin before bumping into Aiko and Anko. They agreed to come and we set off. We picked up a lead but it didn't go anywhere so we had to go back to the village and rethink our plan because everyone else wouldn't look for you any longer. As soon as we got back I went with Yugao to go and find you and we searched for a few days before we bumped into Anko and Aiko who said you were here. So we came here to find you in hospital but Yugao had to go because she had other duties elsewhere." I sit in shock at the efforts Hayate went through to find me.
"Thank you." I murmur.
"For what? You are my student." Hayate replies. I shake my head and give him a smile.
"We need to leave." I say dampening the mood in the room. Everyone in the room looks at me confused, even Aiko turns around. "There are people here that want my head from what I did, I'm surprised I'm still alive from how long I've been in this village. To add on top of this Zarui is on the lookout for me and we won't be able to defeat him with our current states." I look around the room to see bags under all of their eyes and Hayate looks like he's struggling to keep his posture. "Also I'm not on the best terms with the tsuchikage he won't let me stay for long before sending someone to kill me. It's easier for him to kill me while he has the chance before I become a threat to his village." I look around the room
"So when do we leave?" Aiko asks me
"Tonight, we leave tonight."
