Dustin's POV
Harsh sunlight invaded my eyes as someone abruptly pulled the curtains back.
"Get your lazy ass up Rodgers. We're goin' to school." Zach's voice rang in my ears.
I groaned. School. "Do I have to go?" I whined.
I heard him snort. "You don't want to see that hot chick you follow around like a lost puppy? She's changing, by the way."
My eyes shot open. "Really?" I scrambled out of bed and to the window, only to be disappointed.
Zach laughed. "Perv. Although it was better than dumping that on you." He pointed to a bucket of ice cold water right next to my bed. "Now get dressed."
I gasped and put a hand to my heart. "You wouldn't have."
"I would." He shrugged and left.
I flopped back on my bed and groaned. Why do we have to go to school? It's not really important. Although I do get to see Amanda. Our conversation from last night made its way into my mind, creating a smile on my face. Actually, last night in general made me smile. By far the best afternoon and night. I migh-
"Gah!" I shrieked as cold water ascended on me. "What the hell Zach! I'm up. I'm freaking up! Chill your ass!"
He laughed. "It wasn't me, and it's not my ass that's getting chilled right now. Though I wish it was me," he jerked his head to something next to me from his position at the door frame, phone in hand. Probably recording.
I turned and looked by my bed. "Brody?" I asked shocked. "How could you? How could you do this to me. To us! Things were going so well together! Then you betray me like this? Ugh. I thought we always stick together, Brods. Like, guy code 101 right there. Come on Brody!" I exclaimed.
Brody snickered. "Sorry. Not all of us are weird like you Dusty, man. Every man for himself these days." He laughed.
A light, tinkling laugh joined in with his laugh. I looked out the window and saw Amanda peeking out of her curtains, watching the exchange between us. Once she caught me eye, she stopped laughing and a light pink tinted her cheeks, and closed the curtains fast. She's adorable.
"Man, stop making googleey eyes at the hot neighbor. Save her poor soul." Brody smacked me upside the head and left.
Twenty minutes later, we all had some Starbucks and were driving to school. Pulling into an empty space, I hopped out of my baby and looked around. Amanda started walking towards me.
"So," her shoulder bumped into mine.
"So," I repeated her, smirking.
There was a comfortable silence for a few. We walked to the front building together, me waving at the guys to go without me.
"So. Dusty?" She snickered.
I groaned. "You tell no one about that, got it?" I scolded her playfully.
"Sir yes sir," she saluted me.
Another wave of quiet passed over us and I looked back at the guys, who were still looking at us. I tried to shoo them away again. They finally got the message and scattered in all different directions.
